1. Kerala Raj Subramaniam named as the new CEO of FedEx
- Indian-American Raj Subramaniam has been named the new CEO of FedEx, the world's largest courier service corporation.
- He is set to replace the founder of FedEx, Frederick W Smith.
- Currently, Subramaniam is serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx.
- Subramaniam joined FedEx in 1991 and was elevated to the Board of Directors in 2020.
- Originally, he is from Trivandrum, Kerala and studied chemical engineering at IIT Bombay.

2. Kaziranga rhino inhabitants increased by 200
- According to the census conducted in Kaziranga National Park, the population of rhinos increased by 200 in the last four years.
- Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve conducted the census.
- The total number of rhinos increased to 2613.
- One-horned rhino is listed as the vulnerable on IUCN Red List.

3. Karnataka government will launch Vinaya Samarasya scheme
- The Karnataka government will launch Vinaya Samarasya Yojana on April 14.
- This drive aims to eradicate untouchability in Gram Panchayats across the state.
- This scheme was also added in the recently announced Karnataka Budget for 2022-23.
- April 14 celebrates the birth anniversary of the father's the Indian Constitution, B R Ambedkar.
- B R Ambedkar received Bharat Ratna in 1990.

4. Uday Kotak steps down as the Chairman of IL&FS.
- Founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank Uday Kotak has stepped down as the Chairman of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS).
- CS Rajan, MD of IL&FS, will take charge as Chairman and Managing Director for six months, from April 3 by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
- IL&FS has resolved the debt of Rs 55,000 cr; in addition, the headquarters of IL&FS at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai has also been sold to Brookfield for Rs 1,080 crore.

5. Badminton Association has re-elected Himanta Biswa Sarma as President
- Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been re-elected as the president of the Badminton Association of India for another four years term from 2022 to 2026.
- He has remained president of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) since 2017.
- He also served as Vice President of Badminton Asia and was a Badminton World Federation Executive Council member.

6. US provide grants of USD 152 million for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh
- The US has announced a financial grant of USD 152 million in new humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
- The announcement was made after the visit of the US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas to Cox’s Bazar where the majority of the Rohingya refugees reside.
- This financial assistance will be utilised for healthcare, protecting the environment, and providing secure food distribution for the Rohingya refugees.

- Virat Kohli has come up as the most valued celebrity in India for the fifth time in the Duff & Phelps Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2021.
- Virat Kohli's brand valuation dipped to $185.7 million last year from a high of $237.7 million in 2020.
- His fellow cricketers - MS Dhoni (5th), Rohit Sharma (13th).
- Followed by Ranvir Singh ($158.3 million), Akshay Kumar came down to the third position ($139.6 million)
- Alia Bhatt ranked four (68.1 million dollars).

9. ICRA downgrades India's FY23 GDP forecast to 7.2%
- ICRA reduced its forecast of the growth of the Indian GDP in FY23 to 7.2% from 8.0%.
- ICRA projected GDP expansion in FY22 at 8.5%.
- The reason for the cut in GDP forecast is the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which increases commodity prices and the lockdown in China.

10. Meghalaya’s root bridges on tentative list of World’s Heritage Sites
- Meghalaya’s living root bridges get listed on the tentative list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
- Living root bridges are the type of simple suspension bridge formed by the method of tree shaping from living plant roots across a stream or river.
- These bridges are locally known as Jingkieng Jri.
- ‘Ficus Elastica’ tree is used to make living bridges in Cherrapunji, India.
- The roots form the bridge in a span of 10-15 years.

12. Piyush Goyal inaugurated Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre in Dubai
- During his visit to Dubai, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal has, inaugurated the Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX) building at Dubai Expo 2020.
- The minister also urged the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to set a target Jewellery Export of USD 100 billion from the current USD 35 billion.
