1. Pramod Kumar Meherda appointed as MD of National Food Security Mission
- Pramod Kumar Meherda, a 1997-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as managing director in National Food Security Mission (NFSM).
- It comes under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
- He will also serve the post of secretary, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB).
- Earlier, Meherda had served as Secretary to the Governor and as Health Secretary in the Government of Odisha.

2. Ministry of Textiles and NIFT launched INDIAsize Survey
- The NIFT, New Delhi under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles is undertaking an extensive anthropometric research study to develop a comprehensive body size chart for the Indian population.
- This initiative was launched with the aim of introducing a new standardized size chart in ready-to-wear clothing sector in India.
- New sizing chart will comprise of a size identification number.
- It will be created by mapping, categorising and defining the body size and type.

3. Maharashtra govt launches 'Mission Vatsalya' special programme for women
- Maharashtra govt has launched 'Mission Vatsalya' to help women who have lost their husbands due to COVID to provide a bunch of services under one roof.
- The new programme has been designed for widows, especially from rural areas who come from poor backgrounds and deprived sections.
- Under this mission, schemes like Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana and Gharkul Yojana will benefit those for women.

- The LIC has launched a mobile app for its agents and intermediaries to onboard prospective customers.
- The app is the latest dimension of the Atma Nirbhar Agents New Business Digital Application or ANANDA.
- It is a paperless solution for new business processes that the insurance major had unveiled last year.
- This digital application will help in onboarding process to get insurance policy by a paperless module with the help of agent or intermediary.

5. Renowned percussionist Pt Subhankar Banerjee passed away
- Renowned percussionist Pt Subhankar Banerjee passed away after battling COVID-19 for two months at a private hospital in the city.
- Banerjee had done jugalbandi with all legendary classicists from Pt Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan to Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma.
- He was a recipient of Sangeet Samman and Sangeet Maha Samman by the West Bengal government.

6. HDFC Bank becomes 1st lender to list $1-bn AT-1 bonds on IFSC
- HDFC Bank announced listing of its 3.7 per cent $1 billion foreign currency additional tier - 1 (AT1) bonds exclusively at the IFSC in GIFT City, Gandhinagar.
- It became India’s first lender to exclusively list AT1 bonds on GIFT-IFSC.
- India INX's primary market platform, Global Securities Market (GSM), has over $55 billion medium term notes (MTN) established since its establishment in 2018.

- Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar chaired the 11th Meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers

8. Navies of India and Germany Carry Out Joint Exercise in Gulf of Aden
- Navies of India and Germany carried out a joint exercise, which included helicopter landings and search and seizure operations, in Gulf of Aden near Yemen.
- The Indian Navy's frigate "Trikand" exercised with German frigate "Bayern".
- The exercise included cross deck helo (helicopter) landings and visit board search and seizure operations.
- INS Trikand is deployed in the Gulf of Aden region for anti-piracy patrol.

9. TN moves SC to restrain Karnataka on proceeding Mekedatu reservoir
- The Tamil Nadu govt has moved the Supreme Court seeking to restrain Karnataka from proceeding with any activity regarding the proposed construction of a reservoir at Mekedatu reservoir.
- The Reservoir is proposed to build across the Inter-State Cauvery river by Karnataka.
- It will have a capacity of 67.16 TMC ft. and generation of 400 MW power at a cost of about Rs. 9000 crores.
- TN claims that it is a gross violation of the decision of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

- Actor Sonu Sood will be the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's 'Desh ke Mentor’ initiative for the school kids.
- The 'Desh ke Mentor’ initiative which will be launched soon in the national capital.
- The programme entails “adopting” one to ten government school students who can be mentored by citizens who are successful in their respective fields.
- Mentors will take out 10 minutes every week to guide students over the phone.

- Popular Malayali chef and film producer Naushad (55) passed away recently.
- Naushad was introduced to the culinary world by his father who had a catering business in Thiruvalla.
- After completing his hotel management course, he became a full-time chef and shot into the spotlight by hosting cooking shows on television.
- Naushad entered the Malayalam film world as a producer through his friendship with acclaimed director Blessy.

12. MDS bags Indian Navy contract worth Rs 1,349.95 crore
- Mahindra Defence Systems has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,349.95 cr for manufacturing of Integrated Anti-Submarine Warfare Defence Suite (IADS) for modern warships of Indian Navy.
- MDS would be supplying 14 IADS systems for the Indian Navy
- IADS is high-end underwater equipment that uses the latest technology along with a complex array of sensors.
- It is designed to detect and protect warships from underwater threats
- It is capable of operations from all sizes of warships

13. Indian Oil to build India's first green hydrogen plant at Mathura Refinery
- Indian Oil plans to expand more into hydrogen technologies and develop India's first green hydrogen plant.
- This project at Mathura Refinery will be pioneering the introduction of green Hydrogen in India.
- This will be in addition to expanding existing crude oil refining capacity by 25 million tonnes/year and more biofuel production plants.
- IOC is also in the process of setting up 1-tonne/day capacity pilot plants based on 4 innovative hydrogen production technologies.

14. ASI Stadium named after Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a stadium named after Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra at Army Sports Institute in Pune.
- At the inaugural event, Army Chief General MM Naravane and Neeraj Chopra were also present.
- ASI, Pune has produced 34 Olympians, 22 Commonwealth Games medalists, 21 Asian Games medalists, six Youth Games medalists and 13 Arjuna Awardees so far.
