1. 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) begins today


  • The 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), begins in Mumbai with opening match of Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
  • IPL 2022 is being held in India with at least 25% capacity of crowd allowed in stadiums this season.
  • This year IPL has 10 teams with addition of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat
  • Number of games has been increased to 74 from 60 with the addition of new teams, extending the IPL window to over two months.

2. Gujarat tops NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2021


  • Gujarat has retained the top position in the 2nd edition of NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2021.
  • Prepared by: NITI Aayog and Institute of Competitiveness
  • Top 10 states: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
  • Top UTs: Delhi, followed by Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh and Puducherry.
  • Top Himalayan states: Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim and Manipur.

3. Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command conducts Prasthan exercise


  • Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy organized an offshore security exercise, ‘Prasthan’ in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off the Mumbai coast.
  • The exercise is conducted every six months, to ensure offshore security.
  • Apart from the Naval forces, exercise saw participation from the Indian Air Force, Coast Guard, ONGC, Mumbai Port Trust, Jawahar Lal Nehru Port Trust, Customs, state fisheries department, Mercantile Marine Department and Marine Police.

4. NATO extends tenure of Jens Stoltenberg as Secretary-General till 2023


  • North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has approved the extension in the tenure of Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg till September 30, 2023.
  • He was named NATO Secretary-General in October 2014.
  • His term was to expire in September 2022.
  • He is the former Prime Minister of Norway.
  • NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance among 28 European countries and 2 North American countries.

7. Union Minister inaugurates three-day North-East festival 'Ishan Manthan'


  • Union Minister for Culture, Tourism & DONER, G Kishan Reddy has inaugurated three-day North-East festival called 'Ishan Manthan' at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in New Delhi.
  • It will be held from 25th to 27th March
  • It will give an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, art, music, folk dances, handicrafts and traditional cuisines of Northeast India.
  • North Eastern Region inhabits about 400 communities who speak more than 200 languages.

8. Combined Reciprocal Common Transport Agreements (CRCTA)


  • Govt of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh of NCR have signed Combined Reciprocal Common Transport Agreements (CRCTA) that covers both Contract Carriage & Stage Carriage since time period of earlier Agreements of Reciprocal Common Transport Agreement was coming to an end.
  • One of the policy proposals of the Regional Plan-2021 for NCR is unrestricted movement of buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws within NCR.
