2. Google Pay offers ‘Tap to Pay’ for UPI users in partnership with Pine Labs

  • Google Pay offers the Tap to Pay for Unified Payment Interface (UPI) users in partnership with Pine Labs.
  • Earlier, Tap to Pay was available for cards, but now this payment function is available on the phone also.
  • Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled Android smartphones can do transactions using any Pine Labs Android POS terminal across the country.

  • The formation day of Odisha is observed on April 1 as Utkal Diwas or Odisha Day in remembrance of the struggle to make Odisha an independent state on April 1, 1936.

  • The official language of Odisha, Odiya also listed in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.

  • The Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temple was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list with the Monolithic Bull (Nandi) at Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh.

5. CJI N V Ramana launched FASTER

  • Chief Justice of India, N V Ramana has launched FASTER (Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records), to communicate interim orders, stay orders, bail orders etc., of the Supreme Court to concerned authorities through a secured electronic communication channel.
  • The aim: Eliminate the delay in to release of inmates even after the Supreme Court grants them bail.

  • Vice-Chancellor of Indraprastha University Mahesh Verma has been appointed as a new chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).

12. Axis bank acquiring Citibank India business

  • The US-based Citibank group is selling its India business to Axis Bank for Rs 12,325 crore.
  • The deal will be closed in the mid of the 2023 calendar year.
  • As per the deal, Citibank must exit from consumer franchises in 13 markets, including India.
  • Currently, Axis Bank is the fourth-largest issuer of credit cards.
