- Takeo Konishi has been appointed by Asian Development Bank (ADB) as its new Country Director for India.
- He will succeed Kenichi Yokoyama who has taken over as Director-General of ADB’s South Asia Department.
- He will supervise implementation of ADB's India Country Partnership Strategy 2018-2022 building industrial competitiveness to create more jobs, providing infrastructure networks and services.

- Vinod Kumar Mishra assumes additional charges as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Petronet LNG Ltd
- He is presently serving as Director (Finance) of Petronet LNG Limited
- He replaced Prabhat Singh, who superannuated from the service recently
- His term is effective from September 14 till new incumbent joins as MD & CEO of the company

3. Sachin Tendulkar appointed as brand ambassador of ‘Paytm First Games’
- Paytm ropes in cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador in its subsidiary ‘Paytm First Games (PFG)’.
- Paytm has also earmarked Rs 300 crore to invest in growing the market for fantasy sports and other online gaming events in this fiscal.
- Paytm First Games offers over 50 games with fantasy sports where players apply research and strategy to engage with live sporting events. It has engaged over 80 million people

4. France-based EDF Group inks MoU for Centre of Excellence in India
- France-based EDF Group has signed MoU with Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in Mumbai and International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN) for the establishment of Centre of Excellence in the civil nuclear sector in Maharashtra.
- I2EN: umbrella organization of French stakeholders involved in nuclear education and training.
- EDF along with NPCIL is aiming to develop a large pool of diversified skills in India to support the project.

5. NABARD to implement new loan scheme for women's SHGs
- National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will implement a new loan scheme for women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to start production of value-added food products like chips, pickles, jams etc.
- The scheme is launched due to the adverse effect of COVID-19 pandemic that impacted 68% of agriculture and allied activities.

- Amazon Inc has signed Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for its Alexa voice assistant that will enable the users to access Amitabh Bachchan’s voice on Alexa by purchasing the Amitabh Bachchan voice experience.
- With this, he becomes the first Indian celebrity to lend his voice to Alexa.

8. Former Cricketer Sadashiv Patil passes away in Kolhapur
- Former Maharashtra medium-pacer Cricketer Sadashiv Patil (86 years) passed away at his residence in Kolhapur, Maharashtra
- He had represented India in only one Test against New Zealand at the Brabourne Stadium in 1955
- He played 36 first-class matches for Maharashtra between 1952 and 1964, scoring 866 runs and taking 83 wickets.
- He also served as the captain of Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy.

- International Day for the preservation for Ozone layer or World Ozone Day is observed every year on September 16 to spread awareness of the depletion of the Ozone Layer and searching for preventive solutions to preserve Ozone layer.

11. BMC, Maharashtra launches ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign
- Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has rolled out state-wide campaign titled as ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
- Under this campaign, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct door-to-door survey to check the citizens for fever, low oxygen levels and other Covid-19 symptoms.
- The campaign will benefit 40 lakh housedolds
- The campaign started on September 15 and will be conducted in two phases concluding in October 24.

12. IIM Kozhikode based start-up develops wearable gadget ‘Veli Band’
- Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode based incubatee start-up launched a unique user-friendly wearable device titled as Veli Band.
- It has been developed by Qual5 India Pvt. Ltd, a startup co-founded by woman entrepreneur Kiranmayee.
- This will helps implementing social distancing.
- It momentarily vibrates, sounds buzzer, and flashes LED to notify wearers of nearby band.
- It is omni directional with rechargeable battery and uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology

13. BJP launches Seva Saptah campaign to mark PM Modi's 70th birthday
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rolled out a week-long campaign namely Seva Saptah to mark the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Various social initiatives are being undertaken by the party leaders and workers across the country.
- Party national president J P Nadda has launched this campaign at Chhaprauli village in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
- The campaign will end on 20th September.
