1. World Youth Skills Day being observed today
- World Youth Skills Day is observed every year on 15 July to celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for decent employment and entrepreneurship.
- 15th July was marked as Youth Skill Day by UN General Assembly in Dec, 2014.
- The day also marks the 5th anniversary of Skill India Mission launch
- On the occasion, Digital Conclave is being organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

2. Indian Railways develops Post Covid Coach for safer journey
- Indian Railways has developed state-of-the-art, ‘Post Covid Coach’ to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
- It has been designed by Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.
- It has handsfree amenities like foot operated water tap and soap dispenser, copper-coated handrails and latches and titanium di-oxide coating for Covid-free passenger journey.
- Plasma air equipment in AC duct installed will sterilize the air and surfaces using ionised air.

3. Hemang Amin appointed as interim CEO of BCCI
- Hemang Amin has been appointed as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
- He will replace Rahul Johri who recently resigned from the position
- Hemang Amin is presently serving as the Chief Operating Officer of the Indian Premier League since 2015 and joined IPL operations team in June 2010
- BCCI will appoint new CEO in the next two months.

4. FICCI ties-up with UNICEF India for #Reimagine Campaign
- UNICEF INDIA has partnered with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI), Socio-Economic Development Foundation (SEDF) for #Reimagine Campaign
- The campaign will support children and vulnerable population during COVID-19 response and post pandemic in India.
- It will also help curb long-term damage to business operations and employment
- FICCI SEDF will leverage cash and core assets to mobilize funds for the campaign.

5. NABARD organises ‘Digital Choupal’ on its 39th foundation day
- National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has organised ‘Digital Choupal’ to mark its 39th foundation day
- The event was attended by participants of different NABARD projects
- NABARD announced Rs 5,000 crore refinance scheme for financial institutions
- Refinance scheme will offer finance to NABARD’s 2,150 watershed development projects
- It also funded Rs 5,000 crore to transform Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) into multi service centres

6. Gurbux Singh & Palash Nandy to be conferred with Mohun Bagan Ratna 2020
- Hockey legend Gurbux Singh and former first-class cricketer Palash Nandy has been named for the Mohun Bagan Ratna Award 2020
- The award is conferred every year by Mohun Bagan Club on Mohun Bagan Athletic Club foundation day on 29 July.
- Other awards include: Lifetime Achievement to Ashok Kumar (Hockey), Pranab Ganguly (Football), Monoranjan Porel (Athletics); Best Football Player (Senior): Joseba Beitia (Spain) and Best Youth Player: Sajal Bag.

7. Legendary Footballer Wim Suurbier passes away
- Dutch Football legend Wim Suurbier (75 Years) passed away
- He was a key player of 1970s Netherlands squad nad played in two World Cup finals
- He also played in consecutive FIFA World Cup Finals in 1974 and 1978, in which Netherlands lost to West Germany and Argentina
- He also played 509 matches and won three European championships from 1964 to 1977 for club Ajax Amsterdam
- He was described as the 'first modern back of the Netherlands' and ‘king of Dutch football humour’.

8. HRD Minister launches PRAGYATA guidelines for digital education
- HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has released PRAGYATA guidelines on digital education
- The guidelines put a cap on the screen time for students.
- As per the guidelines, screen time for pre-primary students: not be than 30 min a day; for Classes 1-8: 2 online sessions of upto 45 min a day and for Class 9-12: four sessions of upto 45 minutes each in a day.
- It includes 8 steps of digital learning: Plan, Review, Arrange, Guide, Yak (talk), Assign, Track, Appreciate.

9. Union Minister inaugurates new economic corridor projects in Haryana
- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated new economic corridors highway projects in Haryana through web based program presided over by CM Manohar Lal.
- It will have 11 highway projects in Haryana with a total outlay of Rs 20,000 crore
- 3 projects are inaugurated and foundation stones for 8 projects are laid on the occasion
- The move will cut down travel time, provide connectivity to neighbouring states and will boost industrialisation in the state reviving economy

10. IIT Kanpur develops Ultraviolet (UV) sanitizing product ‘SHUDH’
- IIT Kanpur has developed an Ultraviolet (UV) sanitizing product title ‘SHUDH’.
- SHUDH stands for Smartphone operated Handy Ultraviolet Disinfection Helper
- It has six UV lights of 15 Watts each that can be individually monitored from a distance and can disinfect a 10x10 sq ft room in 15 min
- It’s on/off, speed, and location can be controlled remotely using available android application.
- It will be helpful in places such as hospitals, hotels, malls, offices, and schools.

11. VNIR Biotech launches fluorescence probes & PCR mix
- VNIR Biotechnologies, Bengaluru has launched indigenous fluorescence probes and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) mix for RT-PCR detection of COVID-19.
- It is a molecular probe that will be used in COVID test kit which was till now currently imported.
- PCR based test kit has three critical components: oligos, enzymes and molecular probes.
- It is in line with the Make-In-India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat missions will contribute to self-reliance in COVID-19 testing.

12. West Indies win 1st test match against England after corona outbreak
- West Indies won 1st international cricket after the sport's return from coronavirus outbreak beating England in the Test match at an empty Ageas Bowl Stadium by 4 wickets.
- Jermaine Blackwood scored highest run
- West Indies chased down the victory target of 200-run with four wickets in hand, in their second innings and scored 318 runs in their first innings.
- England had scored 204 and 313 all out in 1st and 2nd innings respectively.
- The 2nd test will start in Manchester

13. Ved Parkash Dudeja honoured with ‘Infra Business Leader of the Year’
- Ved Parkash Dudeja has been conferred with ‘Infra Business Leader of the Year’ award for 2020 for his contribution towards the infrastructure development
- The award is given by Rail Infra and Mobility Business Digital Awards (RIMBDA).
- Ved Parkash is the vice chairman of Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA)
- RLDA is a statutory body under Ministry of Railways responsible for the development of vacant railway land for commercial use to generate revenue
