3. Tamil Nadu CM launches logo and mascot of 44th Chess Olympiad

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has launched the official logo and mascot of the 44th Chess Olympiad.
  • The mascot is names as 'Thambi' and is a knight dressed in the traditional Tamil attire Veshti (Dhoti) with a shirt and is seen with folded hands, apparently extending the Tamil greeting 'Vanakkam'.
  • Chess Believe is written on its shirt.
  • It is the 2nd major international chess event to be hosted by Chennai, after World Championship match in 2013.

4. OECD slashes India's GDP growth forecast to 6.9% in FY23

7. India's FDI rank rises to 7th position despite falling inflows

  • United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in its latest World Investment Report projected India’s rank to be 7th among the top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) despite FDI inflows into the country declining
  • FDI inflow into India declined to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion in the preceding year.
  • US ($367 billion) remained the top recipient of FDI, followed by China ($181 billion) and Hong Kong ($141 billion).
