Ayushman Bharat Digital Missionbyjusexamprep

Why in News

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
  • The nation-wide rollout of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission coincides with NHA (National Health Authority) celebrating the third anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).

Key Points

About Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission:

  • The mission will create a seamless online platform that will enable interoperability within the digital health ecosystem.
  • The pilot project of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission had been announced by the Prime Minister from the ramparts of Red Fort on 15th August, 2020.
  • Currently, it is being implemented in the pilot phase in six Union Territories.

Key Components:

  • Health ID for every citizen: It will work as their health account, to which personal health records can be linked and viewed with the help of a mobile application.
  • Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) and Healthcare Facilities Registries (HFR): These will act as a repository of all healthcare providers across both modern and traditional systems of medicine.
  • Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Sandbox: It will act as a framework for technology and product testing that will help organizations intending to be a part of National Digital Health Ecosystem become a Health Information Provider or Health Information User or efficiently link with building blocks of this Mission.

SAUBHAGYA schemebyjusexamprep

Why in News

  • Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana - SAUBHAGYA has completed 4 years of successful implementation.
  • 82 crore households have been electrified since the launch of SAUBHAGYA scheme till March 31, 2021. 

Key Points

About SAUBHAGYA (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana):

  • This scheme was announced by the Prime Minister on 25th September 2017.

Objective: The objective of the scheme was achieving Universal Household Electrification in the country, through last mile connectivity and providing access to electricity to all un-electrified households in rural areas and poor households in urban areas.

  • Funding: The total financial implication of the project was Rs. 16,320 crore while the Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) was Rs. 12,320 crore.

United in Science 2021 Report: WMObyjusexamprep

Why in News                      

  • The WMO (World Meteorological Organization) released a report ‘United in Science 2021’ on climate science information.
  • The report was prepared jointly by the WMO, with inputs from the United Nations Environment Programme, World Health Organization, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Global Carbon Project, World Climate Research Programme and the Met Office (UK).

Key Points

Findings of the Report:

  • COVID-19 pandemic has not slowed climate change.
  • COVID-19 pandemic caused only a temporary downturn in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2021.
  • Concentrations of the major greenhouse gases – CO₂, CH₄ and N₂O – continued to increase in 2020 and the first half of 2021.
  • Fossil fuel emissions from coal, gas, cement, etc were back to 2019 levels or even higher in 2021.
  • Global mean sea levels rose 20 cm from 1900 to 2018.
  • The average global temperature for the past five years was among the highest on record.
  • The report called on more countries to develop long-term strategies that were consistent with the 2015 Paris Agreement.

4th Indo-US Health Dialogue 2021byjusexamprep

Why in News

  • Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar addressed the inaugural session of the 4th Indo-US Health Dialogue 2021, hosted by India, at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
  • The US delegation for the dialogue is led by Ms Loyce Pace, Director, Office of Global Affairs at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Key Points

  • The issues related to areas of concern pertaining to strengthening of epidemiological research and surveillance, vaccine development, One Health, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, health systems and health policies etc. were discussed during the dialogue.

Two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU): 

  • One MoU was signed between the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Department of Health and Human Services of the USA concerning cooperation in the field of Health and Biomedical sciences.
  • Another MoU was signed between Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) & National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for cooperation on International Centre for Excellence in Research (ICER).

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying signs MoU with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundationbyjusexamprep

Why in News

  • The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Key Points

  • Both will work together on sustainably improving India’s livestock sector to support the nation’s food and nutritional security, and protect the economic wellbeing of small-scale livestock producers.
  • Developing the livestock sector envisages strengthening animal husbandry infrastructure, entrepreneurship development and implementing One Health framework.
  • Through this collaboration, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will provide technical assistance for the design and delivery of new technologies and implementation of best practices that are relevant in the local context.

  • A cultural event titled “Bijoya Sanskritik Mahotsav”aimed at showcasing the cultural linkages between India and Bangladesh during the liberation war of 1971 is being organised by the Eastern Command of Indian Army at Kolkata from 26 to 29 September 2021.

  • 16 December 2021 will mark 50 years of the liberation of Bangladesh and India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

  • Odisha will host the FIH (International Hockey Federation) Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2021.

  • The tournament will be held from 24 November to 5 December 2021 in Bhubaneswar and will feature 16 teams.

  • The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Development presented Hunarbaaz Awards to 75 differently-abled candidates (divyangjan) from 15 states.

Key Points

  • The virtual award ceremony was organised by NIRD&PR with the Ministry of Rural Development, in association with State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs) and Rural Self-employment Training Institutes.
  • The awards are given to the candidates who were trained through Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) schemes of the Ministry in various trades, they subsequently got placed and worked in the organizations for more than one year or were successfully settled in the trade of their choice as self-employed.

  • Eminent women's rights activist, poet and author Kamla Bhasin passed away at 75.
  • She was the founder of Sangat (South Asian network for gender training and activism) and co-founder of Jagori, a women’s resource centre since 1984.
  • In 2017, Bhasin was awarded ‘The Laadli Lifetime Achievement Award’ during the 1stedition of South Asia Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for her work in women’s development in Asia.
