Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 introduced by Anurag Singh Thakur and Kiren Rijiju

Why in News:

  • In honor of Gandhi Jayanti, Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 has been officially launched by Anurag Singh Thakur and Kiren Rijiju at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

key points:

  • The third iteration of Fit India Freedom Run has been started on 2nd October, which will run till 31st October.
  • Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian Railways, Indian Army including CBSE and ICSE schools, and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), the youth wing of the Ministry of Youth Affairs And "National Service Scheme" all have participated in Fit India Freedom Run in last two years (NSS).
  • Fit India Freedom aims to encourage people to adopt fitness activities like running and sports in daily life and get rid of obesity, stress, anxiety and other diseases etc.
  • The first edition of Fit India Freedom was held from August 15 to October 2, 2020.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur launches Swachh Bharat 2022 at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh

  • A month-long nationwide Swachh Bharat 2022 has been launched by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur from 1 October 2022 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

key points:

  • The Swachh Bharat 2022 campaign is being organized to create awareness and a sense of pride among citizens to keep their surroundings clean and garbage free.
  • A target has been set by the Department of Youth Affairs to collect and dispose of 10 million kg of plastic waste through Swachh Bharat 2022.
  • The objective of Swachh Bharat 2022 program is to organize cleaning of public places and houses in all the districts of the country from 01 October to 31 October 2022.
  • The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2 October 2014 by the Prime Minister of India with an aim to accelerate efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and focus on cleanliness.
  • Under the mission, all villages, gram panchayats, districts, states and union territories of India will declare themselves "open defecation free" by constructing over 100 million toilets in rural areas by 2 October 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (ODF) state has been declared.
  • The ODF Plus activities under the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) will strengthen ODF practices and focus on providing interventions for safe management of solid and liquid waste in villages.

Kerala’s Pullampara named first fully digital literate panchayat

Why in News:

  • Pulumpara Gram Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala has been declared as the country's first fully digitally literate panchayat.

key points:

  • This announcement has been made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a public program.
  • The mission of achieving total digital literacy was aimed at empowering residents to have access to over 800 government services available through online mode.
  • During the training, residents have also been trained to use social media platforms and basic banking services.
  • The residents were trained by about 250 engineering college students and members of Kudumbashree, while the process was supervised by the Kerala Technological University (KTU).
  • A total of 3,174 people in the age group of 14-65 have cleared the post-training assessment test, making the local body completely digitally literate.
  • The program to provide digital literacy to the residents of Pulumpara Gram Panchayat, 'Digi Pullampara' was launched on August 15, 2021.
  • After a yearlong effort of the local body with the able support of National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, five engineering colleges, a higher secondary school and the mission of Kudumbashree workers have been accomplished.

SC-ST hub conclave hosted by Ministry of MSME in Gujarat

  • National SC-ST Hub Conclave is being organized by the Ministry of MSME in Ahmedabad, Gujarat with the objective of raising awareness about the National SC-ST Hub Scheme and other ministry programs.

key points:

  • The program is attended by more than 300 SC-ST businessmen.
  • The SC-ST Hub Conclave provides a platform to aspiring and established SC-ST business owners to interact with CPSEs, Financial Organisations, GeM, RSETI, TRIFED, etc.
  • CPSEs such as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, Food Corporation of India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited have participated in the program.
  • The summit has also been attended by financial organizations including State Bank of India and Yes Bank, who have informed about several loan programs related to the MSME sector.
  • To help the SC-ST MSE participants, the conference has provided facilitation stations for enterprise registration and GeM registration.

Chhattisgarh government launches scheme to develop Gaushalas as Rural Industrial Parks

  • On October 2, 2022, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has laid the foundation stone of 300 rural industrial parks in different districts of the state while launching the ambitious 'Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme' across the state.

key points:

  • The 'Logo' of Rural Industrial Park 'Ripa' has also been released by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on this occasion.
  • These parks are being developed as rural production and service centers.
  • The goal of the government is to work towards making the villages self-reliant through this scheme.
  • In the first phase of the scheme, 300 rural industrial parks are being developed, for which one to three acres of land has been reserved for the park in Gauthan.
  • In the first phase, two Gauthans in each block will be developed as Rural Industrial Parks.
  • Units for processing of vermi compost, poultry, goat rearing, agricultural and horticultural crops and minor forest produce are being set up in the Gauthans developed under the 'Suraji Gaon Yojana'.
  • In these activities, a large number of women and youth of self-help groups in rural areas will be provided employment as well as good sources of income, which will improve their economic condition.
  • Panchayat and Rural Development Department has been made the nodal department for this scheme.

Domestically manufactured LCH Prachanda officially launched in Indian Air Force by Defense Minister

  • The locally built Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachanda was officially inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) by Defense Minister (Minister of Defense) Rajnath Singh, at a ceremony held at Air Force Station, Jodhpur in Rajasthan.

  • After the induction of LCH, 143 helicopters have joined the unit.
  • The LCH is a product of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a state-of-the-art contemporary combat helicopter that was specifically designed for use in high altitude environments.
  • The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Assault Helicopter is the only one in the world that can take off and take off at a distance of 5,000 meters, carrying a huge load of ammunition and fuel.
  • The LCH has a small radar cross section and a low infrared signature, enabling it to penetrate behind enemy lines and launch a targeted strike.

  • Indore has been awarded as the cleanest city for the sixth consecutive year as part of Azadi@75 Swachh Survekshan 2022, organized by the President as part of the second phase (2.0) of the Swachh Bharat Mission-U (Urban).

  • Swachh Survekshan is being conducted since the year 2016 and is the largest urban cleanliness and sanitation survey in the world.
  • The primary goal of Swachh Survekshan is to encourage large scale citizen participation and to create awareness among all sections of the society about the importance of working together towards making towns and cities better places to live.
  • Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2022 has been given in the following categories-
    • Cleanest City:
      • Population more than 1 lakh: Indore has been adjudged as the cleanest city, while Surat is the second cleanest city and Navi Mumbai has been adjudged as the third cleanest city for the second time in a row.
      • Population less than 1 lakh: Panchgani and Karad of Maharashtra have been placed at first and third place respectively, while Patan of Chhattisgarh has been given second place.
    • Best Ganga Town: Haridwar in Uttarakhand has been awarded the Best Ganga Town among cities with a population of more than one lakh.
    • Fast Mover City Award: Fast Mover City Award has been conferred on Shivamogga, Karnataka.
    • Madhya Pradesh has been adjudged the 'Cleanest State' among the state with more than 100 urban local bodies, Chhattisgarh is ranked second and Maharashtra has been ranked third this year.
    • Tripura has been adjudged as the cleanest state in the state with less than 100 urban local bodies, followed by Jharkhand and Uttarakhand at the second and third positions respectively.
