YUVA 2.0

Why in News:

Yuva 2.0 - Pradhan Mantri Yojana has been started by the government with the aim of mentoring young writers.

key points:

Yuva 2.0 is an author mentorship program to train young and budding writers (below 30 years of age) to promote reading, writing and book culture in the country and project India and Indian writing globally.
Yuva 2.0 has been launched by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and its implementing agency is the National Book Trust of India.
The theme of Yuva 2.0 is 'Democracy (Institutions, Events, People, Constitutional Values - Past, Present, Future)'.
Under the Yuva 2.0 scheme, a total of 75 writers will be selected through an all-India competition.
Young writers selected under the scheme will be trained by eminent writers/mentors.
The books prepared under the Yuva 2.0 scheme will be published by the National Book Trust of India and will also be translated into other Indian languages to ensure exchange of culture and literature, leading to 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha'. India will get a boost.
Yuva 2.0 scheme will also provide a window for aspiring youth to express themselves and present a comprehensive view of Indian democratic values on domestic and international platforms.

Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra top foreign tourists in 2021

Why in News:

Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra are the most popular states for foreign tourists as per the India Report released by the Indian Tourism Statistics 2022.

key points:

According to the report released by Indian Tourism Statistics 2022, the number of foreign tourists in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu stood at 1.26 million and 1.23 million respectively in the year 2021-2022.
A 280-page report titled 'India' has been released by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on the occasion of World Tourism Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
According to government data, India had 677.63 million domestic tourists in the year 2021- 2022, an increase of 11.05% from 610.22 million in the year 2020.
The total number of foreign visitors for the year 2021-22 was 3,18,673, a decrease of 23.4% from 4,15,859 in the year 2020-21.
According to the report, the two states with the highest number of domestic tourists are Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh with 140.65 million and 86.12 million respectively.

CBI launched Operation ‘GARUDA’ to dismantle drug networks

Why in News:

A multi-stage 'Operation Garuda' has been launched by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

key points:

Operation Garuda will be instrumental in disrupting, degrading and destroying networks with international relations through rapid exchange of criminal intelligence on drug trafficking and coordinated law enforcement action in international courts through Interpol.
Operation Garuda is a global operation that was launched in close coordination with Interpol and Narcotics Control Bureau.
Operation Garuda was launched to combat smuggling of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances, with a special focus on the Indian Ocean region.
Under Operation Garuda, many arrests, searches and seizures have been made in many states of India so far.
During this special operation, 6600 suspects have been investigated and 127 new cases have been registered as well as 175 people including six fugitive criminals have been arrested.

Implementation of Card Tokenization

Why in News:

According to the Reserve Bank of India, tokenization of card-based payments will be implemented from October 1, 2022.

key points:

The time limit for card tokenization has been extended twice before.
Around 35 crore tokens have already been created and in September, around 40 per cent transactions at a total value of Rs 63 crore were done using tokens.
RBI has directed all merchants to delete customer's debit and credit card details and replace card payments with unique tokens before October 1.
Card tokenization makes it more secure by masking the code with all sensitive details such as the 16-digit card number, name, expiration date and a unique card number called the token.
The card tokenization rule will be applicable to all stakeholders except the card issuer and the card network.
Tokenization is the process of replacing card details with a unique code or token, allowing individuals to make online purchases without exposing sensitive card details.

ISRO scientist Anil Kumar elected Vice President of IAF

Anil Kumar, a distinguished researcher of the Indian Space Research Organization, has been named the vice-chairman of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF).

Key Points:

Currently, Dr. Anil Kumar is the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network Associate Director (ISTRAC).
In 1951, the International Astronautical Federation was founded.
The IAF has 433 members in 72 countries, making it one of the top organizations in the world for space advocacy.
The IAF organizes the International Astronautical Federation Congress (IAC), an annual space event with around 6000 participants.
A technical program on developments in research and exploration, operations and applications, technology, infrastructure, and space and society are part of the International Astronautical Federation Congress. There are also networking events and speeches.
Vikram Sarabhai replaced INCOSPAR with ISRO on August 5, 1969, in order to enhance technological growth.

The 36th National Games were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The 2022 National Games of India will be held from 29 September to 12 October this year.
36th National Games also known as Gujarat 2022, 36th National Games will be organized in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
Sports like Athletics, Field Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Skateboarding, Kabaddi, Malkhambha etc have been included in the 36th National Sports Event, in which teams from 28 states and 8 union territories will participate.
The 36th National Games this year will see its debut by the new Union Territories of Ladakh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The last edition of the National Games was held in Kerala in the year 2015.
The National Games of India were organized as the Indian Olympic Games in the early years.
Since the 9th edition of the 1924 Indian Olympic Games in Lahore, these games have been held every two years in major cities of India.
In the year 1940, the Indian Olympic Games were organized as the National Games, involving competition between players from different parts of the country.
Athletes are selected by the Indian Olympic Association to represent India at the Olympic Games, Asian Games and other international sporting events.
