1. Odisha to host FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021
- Odisha will host prestigious FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021.
- The company successfully hosted 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup.
- It will be held from 24 November to 5 December 2021
- It will feature 16 teams: India, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt, Belgium, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, USA, Canada, Chile and Argentina.
- Odisha is also gearing up to host 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela

2. President Ram Nath Kovind confers National Service Scheme Awards
- President, Ram Nath Kovind has virtually conferred National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for 2019-20 from Rashtrapati Bhawan
- It will be given to 42 awardees in three different categories: University/(+2) Councils; NSS Units & their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.
- The award is given by Department of Youth Affairs.
- NSS was launched in 1969 as a Central Sector Scheme, to develop personality and character of youth through voluntary community service.

- Chetan Bhagat will release his new novel titled as ‘400 Days’ on October 08, 2021.
- He has released the cover of the book
- It is the third novel in Keshav-Saurabh series, after ‘The Girl in Room 105’ and ‘One Arranged Murder’.
- 400 Days is a tale of suspense, human relationships, love, friendship, the crazy world we live in and, above all, a mother’s determination to never give up.
- It will be published by Westland Publication.

- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been conferred with SDG Progress award for steady progress of Bangladesh in achieving SDGs by the UN sponsored Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)
- About SDSN:
- It was set up in 2012 under auspices of UN Secretary General.
- It led by development economist Jeffery Sachs.
- Aim: to mobilize global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development and specific competitiveness

5. Govt sets up India Debt Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL)
- Govt has set up an asset management company (AMC) named India Debt Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL) with paid-up capital of Rs. 80.5 lakh on an authorized capital of Rs 50 crore
- IDRCL will work in collaboration with National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL) to clean up bad loans
- Shareholders of IDRCL: Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, SBI, UBI, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and IDBI Bank.
- IDRCL is a service operational entity.

6. PFRDA to observe NPS Diwas on October 1, 2021
- Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) will observe 1st October, 2021 as National Pension System Diwas (NPS Diwas)
- PFRDA also started pension awareness campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to promote pension and retirement planning for a carefree retirement
- PFRDA is promoting this campaign on its social media platforms with #npsdiwas
- PFRDA is the regulatory body under jurisdiction of Ministry of Finance for supervision and regulation of pension

7. Former Arunachal Governor YS Dadwal passes away
- Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Commissioner of Delhi Police, Yudhvir Singh Dadwal (70 years) passed away in Delhi.
- He is a 1974-batch IPS officer and served as the 16th police commissioner of Delhi from July 2007 to November 2010.
- After retirement, he was appointed as the Director-General of Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in November 2010.
- He was appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 2016.

8. Ministry of Commerce observes Vanijya Saptah from 20 to 26 September
- Ministry of Commerce and Industry is observing ‘Vanijya Saptah’ (Trade & Commerce Week) from September 20 to 26, 2021, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav commemoration.
- During Vanijya Saptah, ministry will organize a slew of programmes and events across the country to showcase India as a Rising Economic Force and Green & Swachh SEZs

9. ICRISAT signs MoU with UNWFP MoU on nutrition and food security
- United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has signed MoU with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to improve food, nutrition security and livelihoods in India against the impacts of climate change.
- WFP and ICRISAT will work jointly to promote research, advocacy, raising awareness on traditional nutritious crops, undertaking food and nutritional security analysis and adaptation strategies, etc.

10. Somalia hosts first public film-screening in 30 years
- Somalia hosted its first public film-screening in 30 years that raises hopes of a cultural revival in the war-ravaged country.
- Two short films by Somali director Ibrahim C.M. were shown at National Theatre in Mogadishu, where heavy security was in place.
- It is a platform that provides an opportunity to Somali songwriters, storytellers, movie directors and actors to present their talent openly
- It was built by Chinese engineers as a gift from Mao Zedong in 1967

- Union Minister for Tourism has laid the foundation stone for the Development of Parshuram Kund, Lohit, Arunachal Pradesh.

- Components under the scheme: Interventions near the Parking area, Tourist Information Centre, Rain Shelters, Kiosks, interventions near Mela ground, View Points, Souvenir Shops, Water Supply line, Approach Road, Food Court/ Prasadam Centre etc.
