2. India, Nepal sign and exchange six MoU and Agreements

  • Nepal and India have signed six MoU, during Prime Minister Modi's day-long visit to Lumbini (Nepal).
  • They include an MoU between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Lumbini Buddhist University on the establishment of Dr. Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies.
  • An MoU between ICCR and Kathmandu University on the establishment of the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies.
  • An Agreement between SJVN Ltd and Nepal Electricity Authority was also signed.

6. World's Longest Suspension Bridge opens in Czech Republic

  • The world's largest suspension bridge in the Czech Republic named 'Sky Bridge 721' has been officially opened for tourists.
  • The bridge connects two mountain ridges and hangs 95 metres (312 feet) above a valley and can be accessed by cable car.
  • It is 721 metres, or 2,365 feet, long.
  • The Czech Republic Sky Bridge is 154 metres longer than Nepal's Baglung Parbat Footbridge, which currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest suspension footbridge.

8. PAN, Aadhaar mandatory for cash deposits or withdrawals above ₹20 lakh

  • The government of India has made PAN or Aadhar mandatory from May 26 in case cash deposits and withdrawals in a financial year exceed ₹20 lakh.
  • A notification was issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
  • PAN and Aadhar are also mandatory for the opening of a current account or cash credit account by a person with a banking company.
  • There is also a requirement for quoting PAN on bank deposits of over ₹50,000 made in one day.
