1. World’s largest Khadi National Flag hoisted in Leh, Ladakh
- World’s largest national flag, made up of Khadi cloth, has been installed in Leh, Ladakh, on the occasion of 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2021.
- Ladakh Lt Governor RK Mathur inaugurated the flag
- This Indian tricolor is 225-feet long and 150-feet wide with weight of around 1,000 kg.
- The flag is made by Khadi Dyers and Printers based in Mumbai, affiliated to KVIC by 57 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army.

2. Amish Mehta appointed as MD & CEO of CRISIL
- Amish Mehta has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of credit rating agency CRISIL with effect from October 1, 2021.
- He succeeded Ashu Suyash.
- He joined CRISIL in October 2014 as President and Chief Financial Officer and became Chief Operating Officer (COO) in July 2017
- CRISIL is an Indian analytical company that provides ratings, research, and advisory services
- It is a subsidiary of American company S&P Global.

3. LIFE organization among 4 to receive 2021 Right Livelihood Award
- Delhi-based environmental organization ‘Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE)’ has been felicitated with 2021 Right Livelihood Award for its grassroots approach of empowering vulnerable communities to protect their livelihoods
- The award is also known as Sweden’s alternative Nobel Prize
- It was established in 1980 by Jakob von Uexkull
- It comes with a cash prize of 1 million Swedish crowns ($115,000)

4. National Wildlife Week: 2nd to 8th October 2021
- Wildlife Week is observed in India every year from 2nd to 8th October, to conserve and protect the fauna or animal life of the country.
- 2021 is the 67th edition of Wildlife Week.
- Theme 2021: Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.
- It was conceptualized in 1952 to raise awareness of safeguarding the lives of wildlife through critical action.
- The day observes various event with Vizag Zoo Wildlife Run as the concluding one.

6. PM Modi launches Jal Jeevan Mission App and Rashtriya Jal Jeevan Kosh
- PM Modi has virtually launched Jal Jeevan Mission App and Rashtriya Jal Jeevan Kosh as a part of the flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), launched in 2019.
- JJM App has been launched to improve awareness among stakeholders and for greater transparency and accountability of schemes
- Rashtriya Jal Jeevan Kosh (RJJK): It is a registered public charitable trust and will enable individual, institution, corporation, etc, either in India or abroad to provide tap water connection

7. Union Minister launches month-long nationwide ‘Clean India Programme’
- Union Ministry, Anurag Thakur has launched month-long nation-wide cleanliness drive ‘Clean India Programme’ as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration
- The programme will remain active from 1st to 31st October 2021
- It was inaugurated from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh
- Aim: to create awareness, mobilize people and ensure their involvement in cleaning waste
- It propagates the mantra of Clean India: Safe India.

- Former CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi has come out with her memoir titled as ‘My Life in Full: Work, Family, and Our Future’.
- The book has been published by Hachette India.
- This book is all about the journey of Nooyi’s life from a middle-class girl from Chennai to becoming the global chief executive of PepsiCo in 2006 and her success in the corporate world.

9. Birendra Lakra and SV Sunil announces retirement from International Hockey
- Veteran forward star striker of India men’s hockey team, S V Sunil (32 years) and Olympic bronze medal-winning Indian hockey defender Birendra Lakra (31 years) have announced their retirement from international hockey
- Lakra was part of bronze winning Indian side in Tokyo Olympics 2020 as vice-captain. He has represented India in 197 games with 10 goals
- S V Sunil has scored 72 goals in 264 appearances for the national team

10. Ministry of Social Justice organizes VAYO NAMAN for senior citizen
- Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has organised VAYO NAMAN Programme in New Delhi to mark International Day of Older Persons
- On the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu presented Vayoshreshtha Samman-2021 to senior citizens and dedicated Elderly Line 14567 to the Nation.
- He also launched two portals of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, namely SAGE (Seniorcare Aging Growth Engine) and SACRED (Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity).

11. Paytm acquires 100% ownership of lending startup CreditMate
- Paytm has acquired 100% stake in Mumbai-based digital lending startup CreditMate. However, transaction details of the deal have not been disclosed.
- Paytm Group will now be the 100% beneficial owners of the business, while co-founders of CreditMate will exit the business.
- CreditMate was founded in 2019 by Jonathan Bill, Ashish Doshi, Swati Lad and Aditya Singh as a collection platform that help lenders collect overdue payments from borrowers.

1. Fumio Kishida elected as the new Prime Minister of Japan
- Japan’s parliament elected Fumio Kishida as the new PM.
- He will be tasked with quickly tackling the pandemic and security challenges before an imminent national election.
- He replaced Yoshihide Suga, who resigned with his Cabinet.
- The ruling Liberal Democratic Party used its majority to formally elect Kishida.
- A 3rd-generation politician, Kishida was first elected to Parliament in 1993 representing Hiroshima and is an advocate for nuclear disarmament.

2. Cyclone Shaheen batters the Sultanate of Oman
- A cyclone battered Oman lashing the sultanate with high winds and rain as the storm killed five people.
- Cyclone 'Shaheen' made landfall just off from Muscat, Oman’s capital, with winds reaching up to 150 kph (93 mph).
- The name ‘Shaheen’ is given by Qatar which is a part of the member countries for the naming of a tropical cyclone in the Indian Ocean.
- It left flooding and other damage, forcing some to evacuate their homes.

- World Animal Day is observed every year on 4th
- The main goal of World Animal Day is to "raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe."
- World Animal Day originated in the year 1925, when cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann organised the first event on 24 March at the Sport Palace in Berlin.
- World Animal Day is a global event that unites animal organisations, and animal protection movements from various countries.

4. VP Venkaiah Naidu confers Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award of Assam
- VP M. Venkaiah Naidu conferred Assam Government’s biennial Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award for National Integration and National Contribution.
- The awards were conferred to the Assam Branch of Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, Assamese litterateur Dr. Nirod Kumar Baruah and Shillong Chamber Choir at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
- The award carries five lakh rupees, a citation and an Angabastram.
- This award is one of the biggest civilian awards in Assam.

5. India, Sri Lanka joint military exercise “MitraShakti21” begins today
- The 8th edition of joint military exercise ‘Mitra Shakti 21’ begun today
- The 12 days exercise is being conducted at Combat Training School, Ampara, Sri Lanka.
- The aim of the exercise is to promote close relations between armies of both countries and enhance inter-operability and sharing best practices in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations.
- The 7th edition of the Mitra Shakti exercise was conducted at Foreign Training Node (FTN) in Pune in 2019.

- The award is conferred to salute the invincible spirit of corona warriors who have led the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

7. Kangana Ranaut becomes brand ambassador of UP’s ‘ODOP’ scheme
- The Uttar Pradesh government named actor Kangana Ranaut as the brand ambassador of its ambitious ‘one district-one product’ programme.
- The U.P. government has launched the one district-one product’ (ODOP) programme with the aim to create product-specific traditional industrial hubs across 75 districts of the State.
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also presented Kangana with a silver coin which was used for 'Ram Janm Bhumi Pujan'.

8. Kamdhenu Deepawali 2021 campaign launched
- Kadhenu Deepawali 2021 campaign was launched to manufacture and market more than 100 Crore Cow dung based Deepak lamps and Laxmi-Ganesh Idols.
- Kamdhenu Deepawali is to make Cows to be economically useful by proper economic use of Cow Dung and Cow Urine too along with its Milks, Curd, Ghee.
- More than 300 items are getting made now by Panchgavya from Cow.
- This includes, Deepak, Lamps, Candles, Sambrani cup, Havansamagri, Laxmi-Ganesh idols etc made up of Cow dung.

9. Om Birla to participate in G-20 Speakers Summit in Rome
- The 7th G-20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit is scheduled to be held in Rome, the capital of Italy.
- An 8-member parliamentary delegation from India including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh to participate in the summit.
- Duarte Pacheco President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will address the Summit.
- The Summit is expected to discuss issues including response to the social and employment crisis caused by the COVID -19.

10. IISc-incubated startup L2MRail, SID, IISc sign MoU with Kerala Rail
- The IISc, Bangalore, L2MRail and the Society for Innovation and Development signed an MoU with Kerala Rail aimed at enhancing rail safety.
- The L2M Rail and IISc have pioneered Fibre Bragg Grating sensing technology, to develop a Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS).
- The team uses FBG-sensor technology to ensure the stability and integrity of structures even in vulnerable areas.
- It comprise a large part of the terrain covered by the ambitious Silverline project.

11. Rajasthan Govt launches ‘Mukhyamantri Paryatan Udyog Sambal Yojana’
- Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot launched ‘Mukhyamantri Paryatan Udyog Sambal Yojana-2021’ to provide relief to the entrepreneurs of the tourism and hospitality sector affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
- Along with that the CM also launched a mobile app 'Rajasthan Tourism Official' designed to help tourists visiting Rajasthan.
- Beside this, the CM released a collection of various policies, schemes and guidelines issued by the tourism department for tourism development in the state.

12. Mandhana becomes first Indian woman to score Test hundred in Australia
- Smriti Mandhana became 1st Indian woman to score a Test hundred on Australian soil.
- She completed her century to shape up India’s first innings on the second day of the first pink-ball day and night One-off Test match being played between India and Australia women at the Carrara Oval in Queensland.
- She scored 127 runs with 22 fours and a six.
- Both openers Mandhana and Shafali Verma scored together a 93-run partnership.

13. FC Goa clinches maiden Durand Cup football trophy
- FC Goa claimed their maiden Durand Cup football title after a 1-0 win over Mohammedan Sporting in the final in Kolkata.
- Captain Eduardo Bedia scored the all important goal in the 105th minute after the final match went into the extra time.
- The Durand Cup crown also marks FC Goa coach Juan Ferrando Fenoll's first-ever trophy on Indian soil.
- FC Goa got 40 lakh rupees for winning the title, while Mohammedan Sporting received 20 lakh rupees.
