1. India ranked 3rd in REN21’s renewables 2022 global status report
- India ranked third in the REN21 Renewables 2022 Global Status Report (GSR 2022) globally
- India’s total renewable power capacity additions in 2021 was 15.4 GW
- Top performer of the report: China (136 GW) and US (43 GW)
- India installed 843 MW of hydropower capacity in 2021, brings the overall capacity to 45.3 GW,
- India was the 2nd-largest market for new solar PV capacity in Asia and for the first time, it surpassed Germany (59.2 GW) in total installations (60.4 GW).

2. Justice RP Desai appointed as the Chairperson of Press Council of India
- Former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (72-years) has been appointed as the Chairperson of Press Council of India
- She succeeded former Supreme Court judge Justice CK Prasad, who held the office from 2014 to 2022.
- She became the first women chairperson of Press Council of India
- She was a judge of the Supreme Court from 2011 to 2014
- She also headed the Delimitation Commission on J&K
- PCI: statutory regulatory watchdog of the press, founded in 1966

3. Education Minister inaugurates National Yoga Olympiad 2022
- Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated National Yoga Olympiad 2022 and quiz competition in New Delhi.
- It is being organized jointly by Ministry of Education and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)
- The Olympiad will be participated by about 600 students from 26 states and UTs and Demonstration Multipurpose Schools of Regional Institutions of Education
- This year’s theme: Yoga For Humanity.

4. India and EU re-launch negotiations for India-EU free trade agreement
- India and European will be re-launching negotiations for India-EU Free Trade Agreement, after a gap of 9 years
- Negotiations for an Investment Protection Agreement and GI Agreement has also been launched at a joint event at the EU headquarters in Brussels.
- Among the most significant FTAs for India as the EU is its 2nd largest trading partner,
- India-EU merchandise trade registered an all-time high value of 116.36 Billion dollars in 2021-22 with a year-on growth of 43.5%

5. India beat Argentina in FIH Women's Hockey Pro-League Tournament
- Indian women's hockey team has won FIH Women's Hockey Pro-League Tournament after defeating Argentina by four-goal to three.
- In stipulated time both the teams scored three goals, but in the shoot-out, India strike two to one.
- First match of the tournament was played at Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
- Indian team is currently placed at the third position in the points table with 22 points in 10 games
- Argentina team is at the top with 38 points in 14 matches.

6. Manpreet Kaur, Parmjeet Kumar wins bronze medals in Asia Oceania Open
- Indian para-powerlifters Manpreet Kaur and Parmjeet Kumar have won bronze medals in World Para-powerlifting 2022 Asia Oceania Open Championships at Pyeongtaek in South Korea
- Manpreet Kaur (women’s category) won bronze medal in the 41 kg category and had the best lift of 88 kg and the total lift of 173 kg.
- Parmjeet Kumar (men’s category) also won the bronze medal in 49 kg category and lifted 160 and 163 kilograms in two rounds which were his lifetime best lifts.

7. Agniveers to get 10% reservation in Defence, CAPF and Assam rifles job
- Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to reserve 10% vacancies for recruitment in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles for Agniveers under Agnipath scheme
- Ministry has also decided to give 3 years age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers
- Age relaxation will be for 5 years beyond for the first batch of agniveer
- The scheme will not only empower, discipline & skill youth with military ethos in civil society

8. India, Bangladesh to hold first physical Joint Consultative Commission Meet
- India and Bangladesh will hold first physical Joint Consultative Commission Meeting in New Delhi
- JCC meet will be co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Bangladesh counterpart A. K. Abdul Momen.
- It will review the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including cooperation in the wake of COVID-19, border management and security, trade and investment, connectivity, energy, water resources, development partnership and regional-multilateral issues.

9. China launches third most advanced domestically built aircraft carrier ‘Fuj
- China has launched its third aircraft carrier named 'Fujian', which is the most advanced as well as the first fully domestically built naval vessel of China
- Its launching ceremony was held at the Shanghai's Jiangnan Shipyard.
- Fujian is the name of eastern coastal province of Fujian, China
- China's first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, is so far the only Chinese aircraft carrier with the initial operational capability or the basic level of combat readiness.

- RBI increase the number of digital payment transactions by more than 3X by 2025 and to curb volume of cheque-based payments to less than 0.25% of total retail payments

- It covers 47 specific initiatives and 10 expected outcomes

- Javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra has clinched gold in the 2022 Kuortane Games in Finland. He threw 86.69 metres.
- Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad has settled for silver with a throw of 86.64 metres.
- Anderson Peters has won the bronze with a throw of 84.75 metres.
- Sandeep Chaudhury from India got eighth position in the standings with a throw of 60.35 metres.
- Earlier, He broke his national record and settled for silver medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland.

2. Gujarat becomes first State in India to start 'Balika Panchayat'
- Gujarat becomes the first state in the nation to launch 'Balika Panchayat' with an aim to strengthened girl power in the state.
- This unique initiative was started in several villages of Gujarat’s Kutch district.
- This initiative was started by the Women and Child Development Welfare department of the Gujarat Government under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign.
- This panchayat will be managed by people in the 11-21 age group.

- The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has been awarded the 'best regional airport in India and South Asia' title in the 2022 skytrax World Airport awards.

4. RBI increases limit of e-mandates for transactions up to Rs 15,000
- The Reserve Bank of India has increased the Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA) limit for e-mandates on cards, Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) and UPI for recurring transactions.
- The limit has been raised from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per transaction.
- An e-mandate means, that the cardholder giving a standing instruction to the merchant platform to deduct a certain amount of money for recurring transactions.

5. Use of ICT in school education in India wins 2021 UNESCO Award
- Initiative of Ministry of Education, to use the ICT under a PM eVIDYA during the COVID-19 has received the UNESCO’s recognition.
- The PM eVIDYA was started as part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan by the Ministry of Education in 2020 with an aim to use technology to minimise learning losses.
- National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been awarded with the UNESCO’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education for the year 2021.

6. International literary festival, Unmesh begins in Himachal Pradesh
- The three days international literary festival “Unmesh” was held at the historic Gaiety Theater in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
- This festival was organised by the Union Ministry of Culture and the Sahitya Akademi in association with the state Department of Art and Culture.
- The festival was inaugurated by Minister of State for Culture, Arjun Ram Meghawal.
- This festival, is the biggest international literary festival in the country till date.

7. P.N. Vasudevan reappointed as MD, CEO of Equitas Small Finance Bank
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the tenure of Equitas Small Finance Bank (SFB) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), P.N. Vasudevan for one year with effect from July 23.
- He founded Equitas in 2007 as a microfinance institution (MFI) and was later converted into bank in 2016.
- Earlier, the bank had received SEBI approval for the amalgamation of Equitas Holdings with the bank.

8. PM launches 'Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana' at Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan
- PM Narendra Modi has launched Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana of the Gujarat government under its Integrated Child Development Services, Poshan Abhiyan.
- The scheme will cover 7 lakh women to deal with the dietary deficiency within the first 1,000 days of the conception of a child.
- The scheme will also distribute 2 kg chickpeas, 1 kg toor daal and 1 litre fortified ground nut oil.
- Aim: additional nutrition to pregnant women and lactating mothers.

9. PM Modi flags off torch relay for 44th edition of Chess Olympiad
- PM Narendra Modi has flagged off the first ever-torch relay for the 44th Chess Olympiad, which will be held in Mahabalipuram between 28 July and 10 August.
- The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has instituted the torch relay for the very first time.
- President of FIDE, Arkady Dvorkovich handed over the torch to PM Modi, who gave it to Viswanathan Anand.
- The torch will be taken to 75 cities over a span of 40 days before reaching in Mahabalipuram.

- National Reading Day is observed annually on 19 June in honour of P N Panicker who is considered as the Father of Kerala's Library and Literacy Movement.
- This day is also marks the beginning of the month-long Digital Reading celebrations.
- This day was first celebrated on June 19, 1996, by the Government of Kerala in association with the P N Panicker Foundation, National Reading Day, became a mass movement to promote literacy and the culture of reading in the state.

- The team of Manu Bhaker and Shiva Narwal has won the 10m air pistol mixed team title at the 20th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting competition.
- They beat the duo of Amanpreet Singh and Shweta Singh of ONGC by 16-8 to clinched the gold medal.
- Esha Singh (Telangana), had teamed up with Kaushik Gopu to win bronze in both the senior and junior mixed team competitions.
- Meena Kumari (Haryana) has clinched the women’s 50m rifle title.

2. PM Modi launches various development projects in Bengaluru worth Rs 27K cr
- PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate and launch various development programmes in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

- Neeraj Chopra will lead the 37-member Indian athletics contingent in Birmingham, 2022 Commonwealth Games in July-August.
- The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has named a 37-member contingent for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham.
- The contingent include Avinash Sable (3000m Steeplechase); Nitender Rawat (Marathon); M Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya (Long Jump); Abdulla Aboobacker, Praveen Chithravel and Eldhose Paul (Triple Jump) and many more.

- World Refugee Day is observed annually on June 20 to throws light on the difficulties faced by refugees.
- The United Nations has observed this day since 2001.

5. Fitch revises rating outlook on 9 Indian banks from 'Negative' to 'Stable'
- Fitch Ratings has shift the rating outlook of nine Indian banks which include SBI, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, from negative to stable.
- The other banks are: Bank of Baroda (BOB), Bank of Baroda (New Zealand) Ltd, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Union Bank of India.
- The Fitch's Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) are based on assessment of high to moderate probability of extraordinary state support for these banks.

6. 12th Ministerial Conference of WTO held in Geneva, Switzerland
- The 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) of World Trade Organisation concluded at WTO headquarters in Geneva on 16th June 2022.
- The Conference was co-hosted by Kazakhstan and chaired by Mr Timur Suleimenov (Deputy Chief of Staff of Kazakhstan's President).
- The ministers from across the world attended the meeting to review the functioning of the multilateral trading system, make general statements and to take action on the future work of the WTO.

7. Japan to attend NATO summit for first time in Madrid, Spain
- Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida will attend North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, which will be held in Madrid and becomes the Japan's first leader to join NATO summit.
- Sweden and Finland will also send delegations to the summit and South Korea’s new President Yoon Suk-yeol will also become the first leader from his country to join the meeting.

9. Khuvsgul lake of Mongolia added to UNESCO Biosphere Reserves
- Khuvsgul Lake National Park of Mongolia has been added to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO.
- This decision was made during the 34th session of the International Co-ordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme taking place in Paris, France.
- Location of Khuvsgul Lake: Northern Mongolian province of Khuvsgul near the Russian border.
- The lake is 1,645 meters above sea level, 136 km long and 262m deep.

10. Govt declares IT resources of ICICI, HDFC, NPCI as critical information
- IT resources of ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and UPI managing entity NPCI as ‘critical information infrastructure’, declared by the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
- The government has the power to declare any data, database, IT network or communications infrastructure as CII to protect that digital asset as per the IT Act of 2000.
- Any person who secures access to a protected system in violation of the law can be punished with a jail term of up to 10 years.
