1. Gita Gopinath to become IMF's First Deputy Managing Director
- Indian-American Gita Gopinath is set to become International Monetary Fund (IMF’s) First Deputy Managing Director.
- She will become the second-ranking official, replacing First Deputy Managing Director Geoffrey Okamoto who plans to leave the Fund early next year.
- Gopinath has served as the IMF’s chief economist for three years.
- She was scheduled to return to her academic position at Harvard University in January 2022.

2. PhonePe offers health insurance for first-time buyers
- Digital payments major PhonePe has launched a health insurance plan, Health@999, for first-time health insurance buyers.
- The product has a three-step process requiring users to share information such as name, age, gender, and email ID to buy the policy.
- The plan will cover expenses including in-patient and ICU hospitalisation, daycare procedures, Ayush treatment, and ambulance charges.
- The cashless network for the plan stretches across 7,600 hospitals in the country.

3. ADB approves $500-million loan to improve quality of school education
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a $500 million loan to the Government of India to help improve the quality of the country’s school education and mitigate the impact of the Covid-19) pandemic on students’ learning
- About 1,800 government schools will be transformed into exemplar schools in Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand
- The loan will help scale up foundational learning for primary students and enhance the relevance of secondary education

4. Ratan Tata to get Assam's highest civilian award
- Assam government will confer its highest civilian award ‘Assam Baibhav’ on Tata Trusts' chairman Ratan Tata for his contribution towards building cancer treatment facilities in the state.
- Earlier known as ‘Assam Ratna’, the award was renamed as ‘Assam Baibhav’ by the Sarma-led government in September this year.
- The Assam government and Tata Trust are collaborating for setting up 19 Cancer Care Units in the state.

5. Indian Navy Day : 4th December
- The Indian Navy Day is observed on December 4 every year to recognise the efforts and achievements of the Indian Navy in Operation Trident conducted during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971.
- The Indian Navy was established in 1612 by the East India Company.
- This year, the Navy plans to celebrate the theme Swarnim Vijay Varsh to celebrate the 50th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1971 war.

- Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the DRI’s 64th Founding Day celebrations in New Delhi.
- She unveiled 'Smuggling in India Report 2020-21'.
- The report highlights the performance of DRI over the last year and captures issues related to national security, foreign trade policy, gold smuggling, environmental violations, narcotics, import and export frauds, violations of allied Acts, international cooperation, public health and safety.

7. Former Andhra Pradesh CM Konijeti Rosaiah passes away in Hyderabad
- Former Governor of Tamil Nadu and former Chief Minister of the unified State of Andhra Pradesh Konijeti Rosaiah (89-years) passed away in Hyderabad.
- Rosaiah had served as MLA, MLC, Lok Sabha members.
- He held several key portfolios including finance, transport, energy in the cabinets headed by Kotla Vijayabhaskhara Reddy, Channa Reddy and YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

8. India's Ananya Bansal wins Silver at Asia Youth Paralympic Games in Bahrain
- India's Ananya Bansal won the country's first silver medal in shotput in the F-20 category at the Asia Youth Paralympic Games in Manama, Bahrain.
- Ananya Bansal is an athlete with an intellectual impairment.
- Deepa Malik, the President of the Paralympic Committee of India lauded Ananya for her performance in the showpiece event.
