4. PFC to finance 350 electric buses in Uttar Pradesh

  • Power Finance Company signed an agreement to lend Rs 275 crore for deployment of 350 electric buses across nine cities of Uttar Pradesh. 
  • The agreement was signed with GreenCell Mobility and UK to boost adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
  • The buses will be deployed in key cities of UP including Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Bareilly, Ghaziabad & Mathura.
  • GoI launched FAME-II scheme with an allocation of Rs.3500 cr for promotion of adoption of electric buses.

5. Jharkhand Govt launches sports scheme for Maoist-hit areas

  • In a move to curb Left Wing Extremism, the Jharkhand govt launched a scheme aimed at nurturing young sporting talents in Maoist-hit districts.
  • Currently, it is launched in Saraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Gumla and Simdega districts of Jharkhand, and will extend to other districts too.
  • This scheme has been launched to curb the LWE which affected 19 of the state’s 24 districts.
  • LWE are those groups that try to bring change through violent revolution.

6. NABFOUNDATION partner with Innoterra to develop farmer clusters

  • The MoU aims to develop farmer clusters through products and services of Innoterra platform.
  • This association will enable both organisations to engage with India’s largest farmer collectives’ network of over 5000 Farmer Producer Organizations
  • The partnership targets to serve 100,000 smallholder farmers in select clusters over the next 2yrs

8. Tamil Nadu govt declares ‘Tamil Thaai Vazhthu’ as state song

  • The Tamil Nadu government announced ‘Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu as the state anthem.
  • It is an invocation sung in praise of Mother Tamil.
  • The decision comes in the wake of the Madras High Court recently ruling that ‘Tamil Thai Vaazhthu’ is a prayer song and not an anthem.
  • The ‘Tamil Thai Vaazhthu' enjoys official status since 1970 and the then CM late M Karunanidhi govt had issued a Government Order as well in this regard.

9. HAL bags DRDO supply order for ABHYAS target platform

  • HAL has secured an order for manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing and supply of High Speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) System named ABHYAS, from the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE).
  • ADE is a lab under DRDO.
  • ABHYAS was first successfully flight-tested in May 2019.
  • ABHYAS, designed and developed by ADE is an air vehicle launched using twin under-slung boosters which provide the initial acceleration to the vehicle.

10. ISRO developing SSLV with pvt participation

  • It will be launched in the first quarter of 2022.
  • The SSLV will provide a payload capability of 500 kg to a 500 km planar orbit.
  • The government has sanctioned a total cost of Rs169 Crores for the development project.
  • SSLV is being developed with the aim of launching small satellites commercially at a reduced price.
