3. BWF 2022 Yonex-Sunrise India Open tournament to begin in New Delhi
- Badminton World Federation (BWF) 2022 Yonex-Sunrise India Open tournament commenced in New Delhi with players like Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Sai Pratheek set to take on their respective opponents in the round 32 matches.
- The matches will be held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, IG Stadium in the national capital.

- He had served as Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Noida, Nagpur, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Ghaziabad.

- Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav has released the report of second quarter of Quarterly Employment Survey
- It is the part of All-India Quarterly Establishment based Employment Survey
- The report highlights that manufacturing sector engages 39%, education 22% and Health 10% of the estimated workers.
- Overall percentage of female workers stood at 32.1%.

- Noted Kannada writer and activist Professor Chandrashekhar Patil (82 years) passed away in Bengaluru due to age related illness.
- He is popularly known as Champa.
- He was one of the prominent ‘Bandaya sahithi’ in Kannada literary school of thought and was an important voice in public discourse of Karnataka for over half a century.
- His street play Jagadambeya was against the imposition of Emergency by then PM Indira Gandhi.

- Oscar, Emmy and Grammy-winning American lyricists and songwriter, Marilyn Bergman (93 years) passed away.
- She collaborated with her husband, Alan Bergman for song-writing.
- They wrote the music and lyrics for numerous celebrated television shows, films, and stage musicals.
- They were honored with three Academy Awards, three Emmy Awards, the Grammy Award for Song of the Year, and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

- Koottil Variam Ajith (Indian Supply Service officer of 2009-batch) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Defence (MoD) under Central Staffing Scheme (CSS)
- His tenure will be for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
- MoD is charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and the Indian armed forces

- Ministry of Railways has approved renaming of the Kevadiya railway station in Narmada district of Gujarat, as Ekta Nagar railway station.
- Statue of Unity’s Kevadiya railway station falls under the Vadodara division.
- New station code of Ekta Nagar railway station will be EKNR.
- Numerical code of Ekta Nagar railway station will be 08224620.
- According to Western Railways, work has been started to change railway station name on all station boards.

12. SC to set up high-level committee to inquire into security lapses
- Supreme Court to constitute high-level committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge to investigate lapses in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security in Punjab.

- PM convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur after which he returned from poll-bound Punjab without attending the planned events, including a rally.

13. India Skills 2021 national competition concluded
- India Skills 2021 national competition has been concluded with more than 200 participants were felicitated by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
- As many as 270 winners of Competition felicitated with 61 gold, 77 silver, 53 bronze and 79 medallions of excellence.
- Odisha topped the chart with 51 winners, followed by Maharashtra (30 winners) and Kerela (25 winners).
- More than 500 competitors from across the country participated in the competition.

14. Finance Ministry: Deposits in Jan Dhan accounts cross Rs 1.5 lakh crore
- As per the latest data of finance ministry, deposits in bank accounts opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme have crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore mark.
- Total balance in accounts under Jan Dhan scheme was recorded at Rs 1,50,939.36 crore as on December-end 2021.
- Data revealed that over 44.23 crore accounts have been opened under the scheme.
- 9 crore accounts were opened with the public sector banks, 8.05 crore with regional rural banks.
