The Indian Premier League, also known as the IPL, is a Twenty20 national cricket tournament organized by the IPL Governing Council and under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The IPL consists of 8 teams with names based on 8 different Indian cities. It was founded by BCCI in 2007. It is usually held from March to May every year.

IPL Winners Details [2008 to 2023]
2008 - Rajasthan Royals
Led by Shane Warne, they won the first edition of the IPL against CSK with experienced players like Shane Watson, Graeme Smith, Yusuf Pathan, and Sohail Tanvir. During the final against CSK, Yusuf Pathan contributed in both batting and bowling and played the biggest match of his life. He was able to take 3 important wickets with a run rate of shorter than a bowl and very quickly scored 56 from 39.
2009 - Deccan Chargers
This team was headed by Adam Gilchrist. Pragyan Ojha played a very essential role in the team DC taking 18 wickets with his left-arm spin bowling. Adam Gilchrist was able to make 495 runs in 16 total matches and came second in the list of highest run-scorers in 2009 IPL after Mathew Hayden.
2010 - Chennai Super Kings
MS Dhoni lifted the trophy with his strong team members like Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Mathew Hayden, and Muralitharan in their final against the Mumbai Indians led by Sachin Tendulkar. Suresh Raina was the best throughout the team’s batting and his knock of 57 not out cleared CSK’s road to prize in the finals against Mumbai Indians.
2011 - Chennai Super Kings
CSK became the first IPL team to win back-to-back finals against the batting titans RCB. Mr Cricket and Michael Hussey played significant innings during the IPL 2011 tournament. Murali Vijay’s and Hussey's opening partnership for 159-runs against RCB became the ultimate reason for CSK to win the title.
2012 - Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR defeated the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the final. Bisla took the responsibility of chasing and responded with a fearless inning of 89 from 48 balls when the KKR batsman left with the unsettling task of chasing 190 in the match. Even Suresh Raina’s 73 from 38 didn't stop Kolkata Knight Riders from winning.
2013 - Mumbai Indians
Led by Rohit Sharma, with players like Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, and Mitchell Johnson, MI defeated CSK in the finals. The side was well-balanced throughout the IPL tournament. The support of Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, and Mitchell Johnson remained constant throughout the match.
2014 - Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR became the 2nd team to win the IPL trophy more than once. Manish Pandey was the hero in the final of the 2014 IPL, as he let KKR chase overall 199 runs. From KKR, Robin Uthappa won the orange cap as he scored 660 runs in 16 innings whereas Pandey achieved 94 from 50.
2015 - Mumbai Indians
Won the finals with great players like Ambati Rayadu, Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, Simmons, and Kieron Pollard. Mumbai Indians were the third team to win the IPL season more than one time after CSK. The overall unity of the team members aided to win the title. Lasith Malinga from the bowling team took 24 wickets in the match, which was led by Slinga Malinga. Two extra wickets from Lasith Malinga were taken by Dwayne Bravo.
2016 - Sunrisers Hyderabad
The team won against Royal Challengers Bangalore by just 8 runs. David Warner managed the team skillfully as a captain. But, IPL 2016 is famous for the partnership of Virat Kohli - Ab de Villiers in every RCB match. Virat played 16 innings and scored 7 half-centuries and 4 centuries, and became the orange cap winner for the season.
2017 - Mumbai Indians
MI broke the record of being the 1st team to win more than twice. The team won first time in 2013 and then in 2015. The final was won against the Rising Pune Supergiants with just one run. The overall performance of Rohit Sharma was exceptional, as a captain of Mumbai Indians.
2018 - Chennai Super Kings
CSK was the second team who won more than two trophies with veterans like Ambati Rayadu, Dhoni, and Shane Watson. Dhoni played amazingly well and delivered the best finishes in the matches. The main reason for their success was their bowling department which included MS Dhoni, the captain and Dwanye Bravo.
2019 - Mumbai Indians
MI again played with Chennai Super Kings in the finals. The ultimate clash resulted in Mumbai Indians becoming the champions for the 4th time. The final result was based on the last bowl. With this, MI became the most victorious team in IPL history after winning the 4th IPL title.
2020 - Mumbai Indians
In IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title for the successive second time and total 5th time. The match was between Mi and Delhi Capitals, wherein MI grabbed the IPL trophy by 5 wickets. Mumbai Indians also won Paytm Fairplay Award in this particular year.
2021 - Chennai Super Kings
CSK won against KKR on 15th October 2021 by 27 runs. The finale was conducted in Dubai and CSK scored 192 runs with only 3 wickets and defeated KKR by 27 runs. CSK reached 4th position in IPL after their victory in 2021. Harshal Patel from RCB became the purple cap holder whereas Ruturaj Gaikwad was the most junior player who received the IPL orange cup title.
2022 - Gujarat Titans
IPL 2022 final match was between Gujarat Titans (qualifier 1) vs Rajasthan Royals (qualifier 2) on 29th May 2022. GT won the tournament by 7 wickets and Jos Buttler scored 863 runs in 17 matches including 4 hundred and 4 fifties, which is the maximum. The teams that were included in the competition for IPL 2022, were Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow super Giants, Gujarat Titans, and Royal challengers Bangalore. Gujarat Titans (GT) became the first time to be on top with 20 points. The team played a total of 14 matches and won 10 out of them.
2023 - Chennai Super Kings
