India FIFA Ranking: India Ranks 104th Position

At the end of 2021, India’s FIFA ranking has levelled up to the 104th position. The year ended on a positive note for India’s FIFA team as they moved two spots ahead in the November edition of FIFA rankings from their earlier position. 

The Federation of Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was formed to develop and manage the game of football around the world. It is the international body that governs the football body. The federation’s vision is to make the game of football diverse, global, and inclusive. 

India’s football team is also known by their nickname, Blue Tigers. The team is governed by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). AIFF has been affiliated with FIFA since 1948. The team moved ahead in their position with their recent back-to-back win in the World Cup qualifier matches and SAFF championship. India’s FIFA ranking has improved under the captainship of Sunil Chhetri.

India’s FIFA rating has been hovering between 100 and 108 since 2019. At the beginning of 2021, it ranked at 104 in the February ranking list. It dropped one place in August and later redeemed its position at 104 by the end of the year. 

Currently, Belgium ranks at the first position of FIFA, followed by Brazil and France. Belgium has been No.1 for the fourth year in a row. The best FIFA ranking of India has been 94. They achieved this feat in 1996.

Sunil Chhetri is the captain of the current Indian football team and Bengaluru FC. He is one of the best football players. His career as a football player started at the age of 17. He has played for India in 115 international events and has been awarded the “Player of the Year” title for seven years by the All India Football Federation.
