The ancient history of Delhi city dates back to the 6th century BC. On the other hand, New Delhi was designed and developed in the 20th century.

Many countries and dynasties have termed Delhi their home in the ancient era, including the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire.   • On the contrary, New Delhi was established during the British rule in India in December 1911 by King George V. It was predominantly developed by Sir Herbert Baker and Sir Edwin Lutyens, two British innovators. In addition, the Viceroy and Governor-General of India, Lord Irwin, inaugurated New Delhi in 1931. The Parliament of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Akshardham Temple, Lodhi Gardens, Connaught Place, and Jantar Mantar are among the numerous ancient structures in New Delhi based on Western architecture.
