(A) Below the recrystallization temperature

(B) Above the recrystallization temperature

(C) Above the melting point

(D) Below the melting point

Cold working of metal forming processes is carried out below the recrystallization temperature. The recrystallization Process is a method of removing impurities from solid substances. Recrystallization is the process by which defective grains are replaced by a fresh batch of grains that nucleate and expand until the original grains have been completely consumed and the metal’s crystal lattice structure has changed orientation. The metal thus becomes more ductile and workable.

Explain Recrystallization Temperature.

The temperature at which recrystallization can take place given a certain material and processing circumstances is known as the recrystallization temperature. This temperature is not fixed and varies according to purity, grain size, cold working, heating rate, etc. The list below includes some typical results.

  • The recrystallization temperature is lowered as the annealing duration is increased.
  • Recrystallization temperatures are higher for alloys than for pure metals.
  • Recrystallization temperature lowers as cold work intensity rises.
  • Cold-worked grains with smaller diameters lower the recrystallization temperature.

Cold Working: Cold working refers to the process of working with metals below their re-crystallization temperature. Process metals are plastically deformed during cold working below their recrystallization temperature. Some Examples are Bending, shearing, squeezing, etc.

Hot-working:

Hot working is the term used to describe a metalworking operation that is performed above the metal’s re-crystallization temperature. Process metals are plastically deformed above their recrystallization temperature when they are hot-worked. Because it replaces the microstructure with one that features tiny, spherical-shaped grains, hot-working enhances the workpiece’s engineering qualities. These grains improve the material’s toughness, ductility, and strength.

Summary:

Cold working of metal forming processes is carried out ___? (A) Below the recrystallization temperature (B) Above the recrystallization temperature (C) Above the melting point (D) Below the melting point

Metal forming processes use cold working to shape metal at below recrystallization temperature. Yield strength improves, but ductility diminishes in cold working hardness. The temperature of Recrystallization increases for alloys than for pure metals.
