(0, 2) is not the solution of the equation x – 2y = 4. Now we have to check:

if x = 0 and y = 2 is the solution of x – 2y = 4 or not:

We know that if the given value of the variable x = 0 and y = 2 satisfies the given equation x – 2y = 4 then that value will be the solution of the equation.

Step 1: Substituting the value of x = 0 and y = 2 in the given equation x – 2y = 4

Then we get:

LHS = 0 – 2 x 2 = -4

RHS = 4

Step 2: Now we have to compare Both sides:

We can see that LHS ≠ RHS

Hence, x = 4 and y = 0 is not the solution of x – 2y = 4

Parts of Equation:

Two expressions are combined in an equation using an equal symbol (=). The left-hand side and
ight-hand side of the equation are the two expressions on either side of the equals sign. Typically, we consider an equation’s right side to be zero. Since we can balance this by deducting the right-side expression from both sides’ expressions, this won’t reduce the generality. A mathematical definition of an equation is a claim that two expressions are equal when they are joined by the equals sign (=).

Summary:

Check if (0, 2) is the solution of the equation x – 2y = 4 or not.

(0, 2) is not the solution of the equation x – 2y = 4. An equation is the two expressions that are equal to one another joined using an equals sign.
