National Recruitment Agency (NRA) Common Entrance Test (CET), or NRA CET, is a brand new competitive examination for government jobs. NRA was set up by the central government in August 2020. It is gearing up to organize its first CET in early 2022.

NRA CET for Graduates is the top-tier competitive examination in the NRA CET series, where other examinations would be for class 10th and class 12th pass candidates.

Why Is the NRA CET Score Important?

The NRA CET exam will screen candidates seeking government jobs where the minimum educational qualification is graduation, such as the Bank PO or SSC Assistant Grade jobs.

The recruitment boards will be able to notify an NRA CET cut-off score for candidates who want to apply for the jobs on offer. This helps the agencies screen eligible students and limit the number of candidates appearing in the examination.

Based on the NRA CET score, you would know whether you need to prepare further and improve your score or are fit for the tier-II and tier-III exams that lead to the jobs.

NRA CET for Graduates: Examination, Results, and Score

NRA CET will organize two examinations each year where students with a bachelor’s degree or in the final year of graduation can take the test. It will be an online test, and results will be available almost instantly.

  • There would be objective-type questions in the NRA CET for Graduates examination where you must choose the right answers from the given options.
  • The test will consist of 100 questions, 25 each from quantitative aptitude, general awareness, reasoning, and English.
  • Each question will be worth 2 marks. The total marks for the NRA CET exam will be 200.
  • For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total.

The application for NRA CET for Graduates will be found online. The admit card will also be available to download on the candidate’s account on the official NRA CET website.

How Does NRA CET Benefit Job Seekers?

NRA CET aims to make the government recruitment process better and more efficient. It plans to achieve these objectives by using state-of-the-art technology and industry best practices. There are several benefits of NRA CET for graduates looking for jobs.

  • It will check the massive number of job seekers who travel from one part of the country to another in dangerous conditions.
  • Some recruitment agencies may decide to hire candidates based on the NRA CET score, doing away with tier-II and tier-III examinations.

But Wait, NRA Is Yet to Take Off

NRA was constituted only about a year ago, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, it still has to get started on a practical note. For example, the official NRA website is still not up and running.

Given the huge popularity of government jobs in India, there can be some unscrupulous websites that might try to cheat job seekers. In December 2020, the fact-checking department of the central government’s press information bureau (PIB) had busted a fake NRA website.

As such, applicants should be careful and vigilant when applying for the NRA CET.

Summing Up

NRA CET is going to bring in a new era of competitive examinations for government jobs in India. Recruitment agencies such as SSC, RRB, and IBPS will use CET cut-off marks as a screening tool to weed out undeserving candidates. This will reduce the hassles both for students and the recruitment agencies.

NRA CET will use technology and industry best practices to reform the examination system. For the starter, it will use the online mode for application, examination, and results.

However, much of the information about NRA CET is yet to come from official sources. You should watch out for official NRA notifications before taking any move with respect to the NRA CET exam.
