Speaking at the launch of the e-Book Civil List-​2021 of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, Union Minister Jitender Singh stated that the Common Eligibility Test (CET) is in the first quarter of 2022.

NRA CET for 12th Pass - All You Need to Know

The Government of India has set up the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct CET. 

  • The NRA exam is for non-gazetted and non-technical government jobs under Group B, C, and D.
  • Before the year 2021, a series of preliminary exams were conducted for the 3 sectors. From 2021, there will be only one exam.
  • Those who have appeared and passed in the NRA CET for the 12th pass exam will be shortlisted and tested in the corresponding stages, conducted by the Banking, SSC, or Railways sectors.

NRA CET for 12th Pass - Important Points for Aspirants

  • There is no limit for the number of attempts to exam for candidates. The only criterion is to be eligible for the exam. 
  • The NRA conducts CET Exam for 12th pass students across India, and the question paper is in 12 different languages.
  • The scores of the exam, conducted twice a year, is valid for 3 consecutive years. 
  • Candidates may answer the exam in a center close to their home, as NRA also has exam centers in remote locations and districts.
  • Note that the exam has negative markings.

NRA CET for 12th Pass Eligibility Criteria 2021

All aspirants must fulfill the eligibility criteria completely. Scroll down to known if you are eligible.

Nationality

The candidate should be,

  • A citizen of India or Nepal/Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee settled in India before January 1st, 1962
  • A person of foreign origin, at present a permanent resident of India
Age LimitThe age limit varies for each exam. All categories are the same age criterion.
Educational Qualification12th pass from a recognized board
Reservation10% reservation for EWS and PWD (yet to be confirmed)

NRA Common Eligibility Test Syllabus 2021

The NRA has not intimated the syllabus for CET 2021. It is expected for the exam pattern to remain the same. Reference to the syllabus of SSC, IBPS, and RRB exams shows that the CET syllabus could have the following four subjects:

3. NRA CET Syllabus 2021 - General Intelligence & Reasoning  

The subject topics are:

Critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and world-building are also part of the syllabus. You can expect both verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions.

NRA CET Exam Pattern 2021

The expectation is that the exam pattern for 2021 is the same as that of the SSC, IBPS, and RRB exams.

NRA CET 2021 for 12th Pass Selection Process 

The selection process is as follows:

  • Aspirants must appear for the exams and pass the same. 
  • On passing the exams, the aspirant is shortlisted for and tested further by the respective boards.

NRA CET for 2021 12th Pass - Cut-Off Marks  

It is a three-level exam with varying cut-off marks for each. The cut-off mark is dependent on the following:

  • Number of candidates appearing for the exam
  • Number of vacancies to be filled
  • The level of difficulty

The setting up of the National Recruiting Agency has benefited all citizens of India in general and those in rural areas in particular. The recruitment process was expensive and time-consuming. The single exam system in place of multiple exams has saved both time and money. 

FAQs

Q.1. Will NRA CET be held in 2021?

No, there will not be NRA CET in 2021. The Union Cabinet Minister Jitender Singh has announced that the NRA CET will be in the first few months of 2022. 

Q.2. What are the exams conducted by NRA, and how many times a year?

NRA CET will be every year, twice. The first phase of exams is for Group B and C posts in the railway recruitment board, SSC, and banking.

The tier-1 CET will replace RRB NTPC, RRB Group D, RRB JE, IBPS RRB, IBPS Clerk, IBPS PO, IBPS SO, SSC CHSL, SSC CGL, SSC JE, SSC Stenographer, SSC JHT, etc.

Q.3. Will CET replace TET, UPSC, and CTET exams?

The CET will be for:

  • Group B non-gazetted and specified gazetted
  • Group C non-technical posts.

The respective boards will conduct TET, UPSC, and CTET exams.

Q.4. Are there any concessions or reservations for those in the OBC and other categories?

Reservations and concessions are expected for people in the mentioned category. However, there is no announcement as of yet.
