Key Learnings from CLAT 2022 for CLAT 2023

The Common Law Admission Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities consisting of the representative universities was held on 19th June 2022 from 2 PM-4 PM. The CLAT 2022 paper was conducted in an offline mode. Candidates aspiring to take the CLAT 2023 exam need to know the CLAT 2022 exam pattern, difficulty level, good attempts, etc. The following article will explain in detail the key learnings for CLAT 2023 from the CLAT 2022 exam.

The total duration of the CLAT 2022 exam was 2 hours. Candidates aspiring to take admission into the top 22 NLUs need to have complete knowledge about the CLAT exam. The CLAT 2022 exam pattern was the same as that of the CLAT 2021 exam. The CLAT 2023 exam is expected to have the same exam pattern as well. CLAT 2022 Analysis

CLAT 2022 exam was held in one single slot from 2 PM- 4 PM. It consisted of 5 sections with a total of 150 MCQ based questions. Let’s take a look at the sectional analysis to have a better understanding.

CLAT 2022 English Language

  • The English Language section consisted of a total of 30 questions.
  • It consisted of 6 lengthy RC  passages.
  • The RC passages were from topics such as: Narrative, Cryptocurrencies, Public Speaking, Modern Animal Rights, Creativity Honored Posthumously, Role of Fossil Fuels on Geopolitical Order. 
  • The level of difficulty of the English Language section was Moderate but lengthy.
  •  There were no questions on grammar and vocab tested not just synonyms/antonyms but more.

CLAT 2022 Current Affairs, including General Knowledge

  • There were a total of 35 questions asked from this section. 
  • The overall difficulty level of the Current Affairs including General Knowledge was Easy-Moderate.
  • It was seen that the Current Affairs dominated this section with 20 questions.
  • The GK topics were based on Union Budget – DRONE Shakti, ISRO & ​Communication Satellite, SAGAR Initiatives, Russia-Ukraine War, AFSPA, Corporate Social Responsibility, Green ​Technology.
  • The Legal Reasoning section consisted of 40 questions. 
  • The difficulty level of this section was Moderate.
  • The Legal Reasoning consisted of 8 passages. The passages were from topics based on Criminal  Law (Bigamy), Monism & Dualism (International Law), Special Marriage Act (Misc.), Voidable Contract, Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Writ, Environmental. 

CLAT 2022 Logical Reasoning

  • There were a total of 30 questions asked from this section.
  • The level of difficulty of Logical Reasoning was Moderate similar to that of last year's.
  • There were a total of 6 passages in this section. The passages were based on topics such as: COVID & Online Education, POCSO & Age of Consent, Negative Impact of College Education System, Biodiversity (Global Biodiversity Framework), Creativity in Humour & its impact, India's reliance on Fossil Fuel.

CLAT 2022 Quantitative Techniques

  • The Quantitative Techniques section consisted of 15 questions.
  • In CLAT 2022 exam the difficulty level of the Quantitative Section was Easy whereas in CLAT 2021 exam the difficulty level of the Quantitative Techniques section was Moderate- Difficult.
  • There were 3 DI sets consisting of 5 questions each. 

Learnings from CLAT 2022

  • It was seen in the CLAT 2022 exam that all the sections consisted of passage based questions therefore, the candidates should focus on practicing more of passage based questions for CLAT 2023 exam.
  • As most of the questions were based on current affairs the CLAT 2023 aspiring candidates shall start preparing the current affairs topics well in advance. 
  • Candidates should start solving previous year question papers to get better understanding of the difficulty level of the CLAT exam. 
  • It is suggested that the candidates should develop reading habits in order to get an idea about different topics and also to increase the reading speed so that they are able to solve maximum number of questions.
  • The candidates should solve mock tests in order to score well in the CLAT 2023 exam.
