Canara Bank PO Exam Analysis : 4th March 2018 (First Shift)

Canara Bank PO exam's first shift has finished now. We are now here with the in-depth analysis of the exam conducted in the first shift. The level of the exam was Moderate. Highlights of Canara Bank PO Exam 2018

  • The level of the Canara Bank PO Exam 2018 was moderate.
  • The reasoning was the little bit tough compared to other sections.
  • There were no questions from Budget 2018-19 in General Awareness Section.Most of the questions were related to Current affairs and Banking Awareness. Current affairs were asked from December to January.
  • Quantitative Aptitude followed the old pattern with no notable changes in it.
  • English section was the little bit tricky. Multiple paragraphs based RC was asked. In cloze test, options were given along with the blank. Phrase replacement was of the new type.

1.Quantitative Aptitude Section Analysis 

This section comprised of total 50 questions. The overall level of this section was Moderate. Following topics were asked in this section:

  • Data Interpretation 
  1. 3 DI sets (15 questions were asked).
  2. One question was from Bar Graph.The level was moderate.
  3. The second question was from Table Graph with Moderate Level
  4. Another question was from Caseletes. The questions level was difficult.
  • Number Series
  1. 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
  2. The patterns of the number series were based on missing number series.
  • Approximation
  1. 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
  2. Proper practice of questions though BODMAS rules would come in handy for solving these questions easily.
  • Quadratic Equation
  1. 5 questions were asked from Quadratic Equation Topic.
  2. Three questions were easy to do and other two were a little bit difficult.
  • Data Sufficiency 
  1. 5 questions were asked from this topic
  2. The topics were Profit & Loss, Simple Interest, Ages, Ratio & Proportions
  • Miscellaneous (Arithmetic)
  • 15 Questions of this section were asked from Miscellaneous arithmetic problems.
  • 1-2 questions were asked from different topics like:
    The problem on ages, Mixtures, Time & Work, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time Speed & Distance, Partnerships etc.
  • Questions were slightly calculative.

2.Reasoning Ability Section Analysis

This section comprised of total 50 questions. The overall level of this section was Moderate-Difficult. Following topics were asked in this section:

Puzzles & Seating Arrangement

  • 20 Questions were asked from puzzles and seating arrangement.
  • 5 difficult questions were asked from Box Puzzle Topic.
  • 5 questions were asked from circular seating arrangement & Blood Relation Topic. The level of these questions was difficult.
  • 5 questions were based on Linear Seating Arrangement.
  • 5 questions were asked from Floor Based Arrangements.

Inequality

  • 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
  • The questions were easy and less time taking.

Syllogism

  • 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
  • Questions were asked on old pattern of Syllogism.

Input Output

  • 5 questions were asked from this topic
  • The level was moderate.

Logical Reasoning

  • 10 questions from this topic were asked.
  • 5 questions were asked from Inference topic. Statements were given and students had to tick the correct inference.
  • 5 questions were asked from Argument topic. Statements were given and students had to tick the strong/weak arguments.

Data Sufficiency

  • 5 Questions from this topics.
  • The level was Moderate.

 3. English Language Section Analysis

This section comprised of total 50 questions. The overall level of this section was Moderate. Following topics were asked in this section:

  • The level was moderate.
  • A single paragraph was given in the Reading Comprehension which contained 10 questions.
  • Multiple Paragraphs were given in the other RC which contained 5 questions. 
  • There were questions from Vocabulary (Synonym-Antonym). 

Parajumble

  • 5 questions of the moderate level were asked.

Cloze Test

  • 6 questions were asked.
  • It was of moderate level. The theme was based on " US Agriculture"

Fill in the blanks

  • 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
  • Questions were simple and easily doable.

Sentence Connector

  • 5 Questions were asked from this topic on the old pattern.
  • Questions were of moderate level.

Sentence Rearrangement

  • 5 Questions were asked from this topic on the old pattern.

Cutoff for canara could have been the same as Syndicate because of same level of difficulty. However it is going to be higher, because the number of candidates to be called for GD AND PI is 1350(1:3) as compared to Syndicate where they will call around 2500(1:5) for next process of Recruitment.... Hence cutoff would go way more than Syndicate....
