RBI Grade B Eligibility: The Reserve Bank of India formulates the RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria in accordance with the job profile. The aspirants must fit the prescribed eligibility criteria to take up the aspired job. The RBI Grade B Officer eligibility 2023 is released along with the official notification.

It is highly recommended to the candidates navigate through the parameters of the RBI Grade B eligibility before filling up the application form. If later found ineligible, their candidatures will be forfeited. RBI Grade B Eligibility 2023

The RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria is explained for all categories like General, SC/ST, OBC, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen. Students can go through the RBI Grade B officer eligibility to know whether the aspirant fulfils the eligibility for the Grade B post. Applicants must check their RBI Grade B eligibility before applying for the exam.

The eligibility criteria include details about the RBI Grade B age limit, educational qualification, nationality, and more. Candidates interested in applying for the desired post must meet the RBI Grade B eligibility to retain their candidature from getting cancelled.

RBI Grade B Age Limit

The eligibility for the RBI Grade B Age limit mentioned below is as per the notification PDF to be required as of 01st Jan 2023.

  • The minimum age of the candidate should be 21 years and the maximum age is 30 years.
  • Candidate should not be born earlier than 02nd September 1989 and not later than 01 September 1998 in which both the dates are inclusive.
  • For candidates possessing M.Phil. and PhD qualifications, the upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years.

RBI Grade B Age Relaxation

According to the RBI Grade B eligibility, there is also a relaxation in the upper age limit of the candidates applying for the exam. The RBI Grade B age relaxation is mentioned in the table below.

(iv) Ex-Servicemen To the extent of service rendered by them in the Armed Forces plus an additional period of 3 years subject to a maximum of 50 years. 
(v) Widows/divorced women/ women judicially separated who are not re-married By 10 years
(vi) Candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989. By 5 years
(vii) Candidates having work experience in Reserve Bank of India To the extent of the number of years of such experience, subject to a maximum of 3 years.

Gen/EWSs in the case of PwBD.

For SC/ST/ PwBD

For candidates having experience as an officer in Commercial Bank/Financial Institution in
Public Sector as also prior experience in Reserve Bank of India, the upper age limit is relaxed
to the extent of the number of completed years of such experience subject to a maximum of
three years.

The upper age limit should not exceed 33 years, including
experience.

Note- For experience, the probationary period will not be reckoned.

RBI Grade B Eligibility – Nationality

Candidates must meet the RBI Grade B eligibility 2023. To fulfil the nationality eligibility criteria, a candidate must be either-

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 intending to permanently settle in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) shall be a person in whose favour the Government of India has issued a certificate of eligibility. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination, but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

RBI Grade B Qualification

The RBI Grade B educational qualification for various posts are mentioned below as of 01st Jan 2023. Candidates must check out the RBI Grade B eligibility criteria for all three posts as it differs as per the requirement.

RBI Grade B Eligibility For Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – (General)

Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation / Equivalent technical qualification with a minimum of 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years.

RBI Grade B Eligibility For Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics /Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.
  • PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institute.
  • Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.
  • Candidates having a Master’s Degree with Research/Teaching experience at a recognized Indian/Foreign University/ Institute will be eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit to the extent of a number of years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For experience, the probationary period will not be reckoned.

RBI Grade B Eligibility For Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM

  • A Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.
  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and a one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute.
  • M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

How To Become RBI Grade B Officer?

Candidate must qualify for all three phases of the RBI Grade B selection process to become a Grade B Officer. The RBI Grade B eligibility criteria must be fulfilled because later found ineligible, their candidatures will be forfeited. Check out the following criteria to be eligible to take the examination:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The minimum and maximum age limit for RBI Grade B is 21-30 years. There is an upper age limit for certain categories. Candidates must check the relaxation policy before applying for the exam.
  • Candidate must have a graduate/postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.

RBI Grade B Eligibility – Number of Attempts 

There is no set number of attempts for the RBI Grade B eligibility 2023. Candidates belonging to the unreserved i.e. General Category, who have already appeared six times for Phase-I Examination for this post in the past, are not eligible to apply. No such restriction applies to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD if the posts are reserved for them.
