ESIC Selection Process 2022: UDC, Steno, MTS Selection Phase

This year, ESIC has advertised 3968 ESIC vacancies for the UDC, MTS, and Stenographer posts. The selection process differs for the different categories of posts under ESIC recruitment. Thus, it is important to be aware of the detailed ESIC selection procedure for UDC/Steno/MTS posts solely.

For Stenographers, it is a two-step process. The first two phases are prelims and Computer Skill Test & Steno Test. For Upper Division Clerk/Clerk Cashier (UDC), another step of mains is added in between while MTS post selection will be a two-stage based written examination i.e. prelims and mains. All relevant details associated with ESIC UDC/Stenographer/MTS Selection Process 2022 are given hereunder.

The entire ESIC UDC/Stenographer/MTS Selection Process 2022 starts with the release of notification and an amendment in the recruitment process in March (tentative). The number of seats is announced. However, the date of the exam and other particulars are yet to be released. Important Dates for the ESIC UDC/Stenographer Selection Process 2022 are tabulated below.

ESIC UDC/Stenographer 2022 complete notification has been released at the official website of ESIC. Candidates who want to appear for the Upper Division Clerk, MTS, or Stenographer exam must note the different stages. The stages of examination for the post of Stenographer are as follows:

1. Phase 1 (Prelims)
2. Phase 2 (Computer Skill Test & Steno Test)

Computer Skill Test is a descriptive type written exam to evaluate the knowledge of computer application and use. The total duration of the computer skill test is 1/2 an hour. It is divided into the following: 

• PPT Slide Preparation (10 Marks) 
• Typing Master with Formatting on MS Word (20 Marks) 
• MS Excel Formula using Formulae (20 Marks)

Aspirants for the post of stenographers are supposed to take a typing test along with the computer skill test where the typing speed should not be less than 80 words per minute. Qualified candidates from Phase I are required to take the Phase II tests for final selection in the Stenographer's case.

The stages of examination for the post of UDC is as follows:

1. Phase 1 (Prelims)
2. Phase 2 (Mains)
3. Phase 3 (Computer Skills Test)

Phase 1 – The Phase 1 or Prelims exam contains objective-type questions. The exam has a total of four sections, with 200 as the total marks. There are a total of 100 questions where every question is worth two marks. There is a negative marking where 1/4th of the marks will be reduced for every wrong answer. The prelims paper would be bilingual in nature. 

Phase 2 - The Phase 2 or mains exam for Upper Division Clerk has four sections as well. There are 200 questions having one mark each, making 200 as the total marks for this exam. 1/4th marks will be reduced for every wrong answer.

In the case of UDC, the qualified candidates from Phase I take the phase II test and then the eligible candidates from Phase II take Phase III or the computer skills test.

The stages of examination for the post of MTS is as follows:

1. Phase 1 (Prelims)
2. Phase 2 (Mains)

The selection of the candidates for the MTS post in Phase I will be of qualifying in nature. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks scored in the mains examination. Hope, now you have a clear picture of the ESIC selection procedure for the post of UDC, MTS, and Stenographer.
