Are Fundamental Duties Enforceable in Court?

Laws can be used to enforce Fundamental Duties. Therefore, the Parliament may stipulate the imposition of suitable fines or other punishment for failure to comply with any of them. The moral obligations of all citizens to support the unity of India and advance patriotism are known as Fundamental Duties. These obligations, outlined in Part IV-A of the Constitution, affect both people and the country.

Enforcement of Fundamental Duties

The Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, and Fundamental Duties are sections of the Indian Constitution that outline the fundamental duties and rights of citizens toward the state and the fundamental obligations of states to their citizens.

  • 10 Fundamental Duties were introduced to the Indian Constitution by the 42nd Amendment Act of 1976.
  • 11th Fundamental Duty was later added to the list by the 86th Amendment Act of 2002.
