AP State Eligibility Selection Process

APSET  Selection Process: The APSET 2021 Selection Procedure is just the same as the UGC NET and other SET exams. The qualifying candidates must have scored equal to or above the decided cut off. The selection procedure of APSET is determined according to the selection process used by UGC, New Delhi. For qualifying, APSET candidates must come in the top 6 % of students. Those who qualify APSET Exam will become eligible for Assistant Professor in the state of Andhra Pradesh. 

The detailed selection procedures and criteria for APSET 2021 are provided below, which will help candidates understand the exact selection process followed in the APSET exam.

The APSET exam will take place on October 31st. The Andhra Pradesh University acts as the sole agency for APSET and conducts the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET). According to the APSET selection procedure, candidates must appear on paper 1 and paper 2 at the same time. Candidates must choose the subjects they studied at the postgraduate level.

APSET Selection Process 2021

Step- I: The selection process for APSET 2021 will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the University Scholarship Committee (UGC). According to UGC rules, only 6% of candidates who pass the APSET 2021 exam are eligible to work as assistant professors at colleges or universities across the state.

Step- II: The reservation policy of Andhra Pradesh will be used to allocated reservations for different categories.

Step- III: For the General/EWS category, the candidates must appear in both the papers and secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together. For SC, ST, OBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer)/PWD and Transgender the aggregate must be at least 35%.

Step- IV: The number of candidates to be declared qualified in any subject for a particular category is derived as per the following methodology illustrated below:

APSET Minimum Qualifying Marks & Merit List

The APSET qualifying candidates must have the minimum marks (set by the agnecy itself) in both paper 1 and paper 2 combined. The minimum marks criteira will be different according to the categories i.e. general and reserved categories. To qualify for APSET the candidate must score equal or more than the cut off. After the APSET Exam is conducted, merit list is released of sucessful candidates. APSET Merit List

Andhra Pradesh University announces the APSET Merit List after the exam is completed. The merit list will have the list of all the qualifying candidates who will later be awarded with the APSET E-Certificate and will be eligible for Assistant Professor in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

  • Paper 1 is general in nature like UGC NET. It will consist of 50 questions. Each question is of 2 marks.
  • Total marks for Paper 1 are 100.
  • Paper 2 is subject-specific. It will consist of 100 questions. Each question is of 2 marks.
  • Total marks for Paper 2 are 200.
  • Total marks for both papers are 300.
  • There is no negative marking.

  • Only 6 % of the candidates qualify for APSET in each subject. The selection of candidates for the 6% slot shall be based on the reservation rules and policies of Andhra Pradesh.
