AILET General Knowledge Previous Years Analysis: The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) conducted by National Law University, Delhi for admission to its law undergraduate course is regarded as India’s toughest entrance examination related to the legal fraternity. Additionally, it is also the most densely competed law entrance examination in the sub-continent wherein as much as 25,000 students compete for a meagre sum of 123 seats. Out of these 123 seats, 55 berths are reserved for students domiciled in Delhi. Therefore, applicants from Delhi enjoy a special-edge over applicants coming from other regions across the country.

AILET is a pen-paper based test, which comprises of 150 objective type questions from various sections like English, General Knowledge, Reasoning, Legal Aptitude, and Elementary Mathematics or Numerical Ability.

Before moving to AILET General Knowledge previous year paper analysis, let’s discuss the pattern and the syllabus of the General Knowledge.

AILET General Knowledge Exam Pattern 2020

• AILET 2020 exam comprises a total of 150 questions carrying 1 mark each. The total duration of the test is 90 minutes.
• The paper consists of 5 sections which are mentioned below in the table:

Negative marking:

• The test carries a negative marking of 0.25 marks. Every wrong answer will deduct 0.25 marks.

AILET 2020 Syllabus for General Knowledge

• In this section, questions will be based on Current Affairs and Static GK.

This section is divided into two parts –

1. Static GK – Questions will be asked from topics like – General Science, Geography, History, Indian Economy, National Parks, Arts & Culture, Headquarters, etc.

2. Current Affairs – This part deals with day-to-day happenings of importance not only nationally but also internationally.

Current Affairs questions based on the following topics –

• International Affairs
• National Affairs
• Awards
• Agreement & Deals
• Books & Authors
• Schemes
• Science & Defence
• Sports
• Appointments (National & International)
• Obituaries
• States News
• Summit & Conferences

There are in total of 35 questions in the General Knowledge section of AILET. An applicant can save an ample amount of time in this section which can be used in other time-taking sections such as English and Reasoning.

AILET General Knowledge Previous Year Analysis

As per the recent trends, the weightage of the Current affairs part has subsequently increased to almost 75-80% in this section. The difficulty level of this section is high and the syllabus is too vast to cover. However, it is the most inexpensive section in terms of time consumption.

• The scope of uncertainty is minimal in this section as the questions asked are direct in nature. Your formulation for AILET GK section will prove to be advantageous in covering various aspects of AILET Legal Aptitude section that has questions on Legal GK also.

• It is obvious from the above data that there is no fixed inclination regarding the distribution of questions into static GK or current affairs. This year, AILET had only limited questions on static GK and nearly 85% questions on current affairs.

• Although, AILET 2017 & 2018 had almost the same number of static and current GK questions. Hence, we recommend a balanced preparation strategy, apportioning equal time and energy to both static GK and current affairs.

• Since the last three years, AILET GK section has been overshadowed by current affairs and the number of questions were less from the static part that is History, Polity, Economic Principles and general Science & Technology.

• The last item that the general knowledge section requires is guesswork because all the questions are factual. Either you recognize the solution, otherwise, you don’t. There is no middle ground.

• It has no calculation work or no analysis work. If you are well prepared, you can save tons of your time whilst attempting the General Knowledge section.

• Studying for the General knowledge section strategically can help a private in getting an honest score. You must devour only reliable and original study materials. Learning random books and studying cover to hide maybe a complete no-no.

Preferably, you should not devote more than 10-15 minutes on this section. It will help you distribute time to other time-consuming sections.

1. Static GK

• The questions on Static GK are quite objective wherein it requires the minimum amount of time to answer the questions and provides the same weightage in the score as a hard lengthy question from any other section. • Hence it becomes very important to stick to reliable and well-researched books and materials for the preparation of this subject.
