By Avinash Kumar|Updated : April 26th, 2019

The AIIMS Examination actually borrows its name from the parent organizations that regulate it. AIIMS stands for the All India Institute(s) of Medical Sciences, depending on whether one is referring to a single institute or collectively as a group. The AIIMS is a group of independent public medical colleges of higher education located in several places across India. Currently, there are 7 distinct AIIMS with the founding institute in Delhi, and the rest (in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, and Rishikesh) established in 2012. There are extensive plans to set up further AIIMS at multiple locations in the future.

The AIIMS Examination itself is conducted at the national level, for students seeking admission to the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) program offered by the AIIMS aforementioned above. The registration for AIIMS examination has to be done through online mode only.

AIIMS 2019 Exam Pattern

The method of the AIIMS examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). This, of course, indicates that the exam will not be pen and paper-based. The examination will have 200 questions in total spread across four separate sections, three of which will be based on subjects whereas the fourth section shall be on general knowledge and aptitude. The questions themselves shall be objective, more specifically, multiple-choice and reason-assertion types. The questions will be asked in two languages, namely, English or Hindi.
