SSC JE 2023 Selection Process

SSC JE selection process is essential for understanding the entire cycle and pattern of the exam. The candidates for the vacant positions will be shortlisted in the following stages.

SSC JE 2022 Selection Process

  • Stage 1: Written examination or Paper 1 (Objective Type). The mode of exam is online and comprises 200 marks.
  • Stage 2: Written examination or Paper 2 is a conventional type for 300 marks. This exam will take place in an offline mode.
  • Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)

Candidates should be aware that no interviews will be held to shortlist candidates for the SSC JE position. Thus, the final selection of candidates for vacant positions will be based on their performance in stages 1 and 2 of the SSC JE exam. The marks secured in paper 1 will be normalised.

  • SSC JE 2023 exam date has been announced in the annual calendar released by the commission. The exam for tier 1 is expected to be held in the month of October 2023. Further, SSC JE Tier 2 exam date is yet to be announced by the commission.

  • SSC JE 2023 notification PDF will be released on 26 July 2023. It will be made available on the official SSC website. The notification contains information about the exam that includes the eligibility, syllabus, exam date, vacancy, and a lot of other information as well.

  • Staff Selection Commission administers the Junior Engineer exam, also known as the SSC JE exam. SSC JE is an excellent job with a great job profile in which candidates are appointed in Group B (Non-Gazetted) posts in the Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying, and contract disciplines in various Organizations/Ministries/Departments in the Government of India.

  • The last date to apply for SSC JE 2023 exam is 16 August 2023. Candidates should ensure that they fill out the application form before the last date to avoid the last-minute hassle.

  • SSC JE application form 2023 will be available on July 26, 2023. You must first register, then log in with your registration ID and password to fill out your educational qualification, personal information, and pay the application fee. Candidates who have already registered do not need to re-register in order to fill out the SSC JE application form.

    • The candidates who have completed their diploma or engineering from a recognised university are eligible to apply for SSC JE exam.

  • The RRB JE exam is conducted by the Railway Ministery where the candidates are appointed in the Indian Railways as engineers. On the other hand, SSC JE exam is held for the appointment of the candidates in various Ministries of the Government. Further, the notification for SSC JE is released annually while for RRB JE it is released once in every 2 or 3 years. 

  • SSC JE syllabus is divided into two sections. The syllabus for JE Tier-1 is broad in scope and includes subjects such as General Intelligence. General Awareness and General Engineering. The second section is more specific in nature and conventional in style. SSC JE syllabus for Tier-2 includes Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering depending on the candidate's educational qualification and the position applied for.   • The candidates who qualify the SSC JE exam are appointed as Junior Engineers in various departments and ministries of the Government that include Border Roads Organization, Ministry of Defence, Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Central Water Commission, Central Water Power Research Station, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Naval, Farakka Barrage Project and Military Engineer Services (MES).

  • There is no limit on the number of attempts that one can take for SSC JE recruitment exam. Candidates can give this exam as many times as they like. However, there is an age limit, which depending on the post is 30 or 32 years, which candidates must take into consideration as not falling within this age bracket will lead to disqualification. 

  • SSC JE is considered a tough exam, not because of the exam itself but because of the high level of competition. Candidates from all over the country participate in this exam which makes it a tough one to crack. However, with correct preparation and utilisaiton of time, this exam will become quite easy.   • The upper age limit for SSC JE 2023 is 32 years. However, the upper age limit varies as per the post and department one is applying to. 

  • Government offers a lucrative SSC JE salary which makes it a much sought-after job. In hand salary of an SSC JE is approx. Rs. 44,000. The candidates are also paid other perks and allowances as per the government norms.

  • The candidates who have completed their diploma or engineering from a recognised university and are up to the age of 30/32 (depending on the department) are eligible to apply for the SSC JE exam.   • The SSC JE exam comprises of 2 papers, SSC JE paper 1 and SSC JE paper 2. Paper 1 is objective in nature while paper 2 is descriptive in nature. 

  • A. SSC JE result 2023 will be released soon after the conclusion of the exam. The result will be released in PDF format on the official website of the Staff Selection Commission. The result of SSC JE 2022 for paper 1 is expected to be released in January 2023.

  • SSC JE 2022 tier 2 exam is scheduled to be held on 26 February 2023. Candidates who have qualified tier 1 examination are eligible for appearing in the paper 2 examination.
