RRB JE Selection Process 2022: CBT 1, CBT 2, DV, Medical Test

RRB JE Selection Process is the set of stages prescribed by the Railway Recruitment Board for the recruitment of eligible candidates for the post of Junior Engineer. The candidates who will be appearing for the RRB JE exam 2022 must have good knowledge about each stage of the selection process to plan their preparation accordingly.

The RRB JE selection shall be done through 4 stages, CBT 1, CBT 2, document verification and medical test. Below, we have explained each stage of selection in detail to make the preparation for RRB JE 2022 exam easier. Candidates should go through each stage of RRB JE selection process 2022 and other information is provided here for a well-rounded preparation.

RRB JE Selection Process

RRB JE Selection Process 2022 is decided by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). It is highly important that the candidates are aware of each stage of the selection process for the RRB JE 2022 exam. It is crucial to plan ahead for such competitive exams and knowing different stages of selection certainly lessens the load of planning. RRB JE selection process is done through the following four stages: 

Stage 1: Computer Based Test 1 (CBT 1)

Stage 2: Computer Based Test 2  (CBT 2)

Stage 3: Medical Examination 

Stage 4: Document Verification

A candidate will be required to qualify each stage of the RRB JE 2022 recruitment process to be eligible for the final appointment. The selection criteria for the CBT 1 & CBT 2 exams shall be different from each other. So all the candidates must have complete knowledge about each stage of the RRB JE selection process so that they do not have any doubt regarding it. 

RRB JE Selection Process for CBT 1

The first stage of the RRB JE selection process is the CBT 1 or Computer Based Test 1. All the candidates who apply successfully for the RRB Junior Engineer exam shall be eligible to appear for CBT 1. The RRB JE CBT 1 is the screening round and its marks will not be added to the final result. 

RRB JE Selection Process

  • The RRB JE CBT 1 shall have five sections, i.e. Mathematics, General Intelligence, Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science.
  • Each section will have separate marks weightage. 
  •  The questions in the RRB JE CBT 1 will be of objective type with multiple choices for a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes and 120 minutes for PwD candidates.  
  • There will be a total of 100 questions. For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded while for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks shall be deducted.

RRB JE Selection Process for CBT 2

The candidates who will obtain the RRB JE cut-off marks shall be eligible to appear for the RRB JE CBT 2. The selection process for the next stage, i.e., CBT 2 paper will have 5 subjects, i.e. General Awareness, Physics, and Chemistry, Basics of Computer Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities.

The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage shall be 15 times the total RRB JE vacancy notified against the RRB as per their merit in 1st Stage CBT. 

  • There will be a total of 150 questions in RRB JE CBT 2 for a duration of 2 Hours. 
  • A negative marking of ⅓ shall be done for every incorrect answer marked by you in the online test for RRB JE in CBT 2 paper. 
  • All the questions shall be objective in nature.

RRB JE Normalization

Candidates in large numbers apply for the RRB JE exam. Hence, to ensure transparency in selecting the deserving candidate for the Junior Engineer post, RRB will normalise the marks scored by the candidates if the CBT is held in multiple sessions. The raw marks for a single session and RRB JE normalised marks for the multi-session paper will be used to prepare the merit list of the candidates. 

RRB JE Qualifying Marks for CBT 1 & 2

All the candidates will have to obtain the following marks in the RRB JE CBT 1 & CBT 2 papers separately. The following is the minimum marks as per the category of the candidates.

RRB JE Document Verification

The candidates who qualify CBT 1  & CBT 2 will be called for RRB JE document verification. You must note that the candidates who will get more than the cut-off marks in RRB JE CBT 2 shall be called to appear for the document verification. During the DV process, all the original documents of the candidates shall be scrutinised. The list of documents for RRB JE Document Verification is mentioned below.

  • High School Examination Certificate
  • Proof for Date of Birth
  • Diploma/ Degree Certificate
  • Category Certificate
  • Income Certificate for Waiving Examination Fee
  • Medical Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PWD)
  • NOC from serving employees/ Ex-Servicemen
  • Minority declaration on Non-judicial Stamp Paper

RRB JE Medical Test

The document verification will be followed by an RRB JE medical test round. In the medical test, the candidates will be examined whether they are medically fit to carry out the duties or not. The candidate’s vision will be tested. Candidates who succeed in all these stages will be appointed as Junior engineers in RRB. 

RRB JE Medical Test 

The medical exam for RRB JE shall be conducted for the following as prescribed by RRB.

B-1 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D), Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Mesopic vision.
B-2 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and Must pass test for Binocular Vision.
C-1 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.

RRB JE Final Selection – Merit List

The final merit list of the candidates who are eligible for appointment shall be made on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the RRB JE CBT 2. Hence, it is important that you score maximum marks in the CBT 2 paper for your name to appear in the merit list. 

Upon successful completion of the RRB JE selection process, i.e. CBT1, CNBT 2, DV, and medical test, the merit list of the candidates will be prepared on the basis of the marks scored in the CBT 2 of RRB JE exam.
