Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 12th, 2020, made an announced of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package on his 5th address to the nation in 'Mann ki Baat'. This is a special economic relief package with a total outlay of Rs 20 lakh crore with a major focus on achieving self-reliant India. It is equivalent to 10% of India's GDP.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan stands on 5 pillars: Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand. 

The details of self-reliant movement or Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package were announced in detail by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in 5 tranches. The 5 tranches include schemes and relief for all the sectors. From street vendors to corporate, farmers to MSMEs, migrant workers, PSUs, education, health, etc.

The part 1 of Special Economic Relief Package was introduced on May 13 2020.  It includes a total of 15 measures for various sections including cottage industry, MSMEs, labourers, middle class, industries, TDS reduction, NBFCs, etc with a total outlay of 5,94,550 Crore.

The second tranche of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package was dedicated to migrant labours, street vendors, migrant urban poor, small traders self-employed people, small farmers, and housing. The total fund for this part was Rs 3,10,00 Crore.

Finance Minister announces 11 measures in the 3rd tranche of special economic relief package with a total outlay of Rs 1,50,000 crore. This tranche includes measures to strengthen Infrastructure Logistics, Capacity Building, Governance and Administrative Reforms for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Processing Sectors providing both short and long-term relief to the relevant sector.

The fourth tranche of special economic relief by the Finance Minister focuses on structural reforms in 8 sectors: Coal, Minerals, Defence production, Civil Aviation, Power Sector, Social Infrastructure, Space and Atomic energy.
