Three cyclists start together and can cycle 48,60 and 72 km a day, around the field. They will meet again in 30 days. Steps to calculate the time required for all three cyclists will meet at the starting site again:
From the question, we can write as
- Time taken for cyclist 1 = 360/48 = 7.5 days
- Time taken for cyclist 2 = 360/60 = 6 days
- time taken for cyclist 3 = 360/72 = 5 days
7.5, 6, 5 is in LCM so we should get LCM of 7.5, 6, 5 i.e. 30
They will meet after 30 days.
- 1st cyclist will travel in 30 days = 30/7.5 = 4 rounds
- 2nd cyclist will travel in 30 days = 30/6 = 5 rounds
- 3rd cyclist will travel in 30 days = 30/5 = 6 rounds
Thus, all three cyclists will meet at the starting site after 30 days.
