(a) To find the speed acquired
As the bus starts from the rest
Initial velocity u = 0 m/s
Acceleration a = 0.1 m/s2
Time t = 2 minutes = 2 x 60 = 120 seconds
The equation for acceleration is
a = (v – u)/t
Terminal velocity v = at + u
Substituting the values
= 0.1 x 120 + 0
= 12 m/s
Table of content
(b) To find the distance traveled
a = 0.1 m/s
v = 12 m/s
u = 0 m/s
t = 120 s
We know that
S = (v2 – u2)/2a
Substituting the values
S = (122 – 02)/ (2 x 0.1)
S = 720 m
Therefore, the speed acquired is 12 m/s and the distance traveled is 720 m.
Summary:
A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of 0.1 m/s2 for 2 minutes. Find (a) the speed acquired and (b) the distance traveled.
A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of 0.1 m/s2 for 2 minutes. The speed acquired is 12 m/s and the distance traveled is 720 m.
