  • The 67th National Film Awards that were organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, a division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, were presented at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan on Monday.
  • The winners for the prestigious awards that honoured outstanding achievements in cinema for the year 2019 were announced back in March. The ceremony was supposed to take place last year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

About 67th National Film Awards         

  • The 67th National Film Awards are being announced by the veteran filmmaker N Chandra, who headed the non-feature films jury as the chairperson.
  • The awards include both Feature and Non-feature films.
  • This 461 films were in the Feature Film category and 220 films competed in the Non-Feature Film category.

  • It is the highest award given for films in India and is organized every year
  • Established: 1954.
  • Aim: These awards are given for the best films in each region and language of the country which were produced in the previous year across the country.
  • Given by: Directorate of Film Festivals, an organization that comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, since 1973

  • Legendary actor Rajnikanth will be honoured with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award on October 25, 2021. He will be conferred the prestigious award for his outstanding contribution to the world of Indian cinema.
