5 Major Changes in AFCAT 1 2023 Exam
As we all know that the Indian Airforce has released the notification for the AFCAT 1 2023 Exam for the recruitment of an officer into the Indian Air Force. As per the official notification 2023, there are some major changes that IAF has made in the AFCAT 1 2023 recruitment. Below is the list of major changes in the AFCAT 1 2023 exam.
- No EKT for AFCAT 1 2023 exam.
- No Permanent Vacancy in AFCAT 2023.
- The new addition of the Weapons System Branch.
- Written Exam for Meteorology Branch in AFCAT 2023.
- No Barrier for non-core branches of Engineering.

No EKT for AFCAT 1 2023 Exam
As per the official notification, there is no inclusion of the EKT (Engineer Knowledge Test) in the AFCAT 1 2023 Exam. There can be multiple reasons behind this, but the Indian Air Force declares no official reason regarding this exam.
No AFCAT Permanent Commission Vacancy
As per the official notification, there is no AFCAT Vacancy for a permanent commission. Below are the number of vacancies for AFCAT 1 2023 vs the number of vacancies for the 2022 session.

New Addition of the Weapons System Branch in AFCAT 1 2023
As per the official notification 2023, IAF has also invited applications for the Weapon System Branch. The Weapon System Branch was introduced and announced on 8 October 2022 on Indian Airforce Day.
Weapon System Branch. The Weapon System Branch encompass operators in four specialized streams of Surface-to-Surface missiles, Surface-to-Air missiles, Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Weapon System Operators in twin/multi-crew aircraft.
Written Exam for Meteorology Branch in AFCAT 2023
As per the AFCAT 1 2023 official notification, there will be a Meteorology Branch written exam in AFCAT 1 2023. As per the previous notification this was included as the special entry as it was not a part of the AFCAT written exam.
