The molarity of 29% w/W of sulphuric acid, with a density of 1.22 g/ml is 3.61 M. According to the question, w/W% of sulphuric acid is 29% which means 29 g of sulphuric acid is dissolved in 100 g of solution

Therefore,

Density of sulphuric acid = 1.22 g/ml

Consequently, the molarity equation

Molarity = no. of moles/ volumes in liter

The number of moles = given mass/ molar mass = 29/98 moles since the molar mass of sulphuric acid is 98 g

The volume of sulphuric can be calculated by using the given density= 1.22 g/ml and mass=100 g:

Density = mass/volume

Substituting the values we get

Volume = mass/density = 100/1.22 mL

Volume in litres = 100/ (1.22 x 1000)

Therefore, Molarity = n/v

= 29/98/ 100/ (1.22 x 1000)

= (29 x 1.2 x 1000)/ (98 x 100)

= 3.61 M

Uses of sulphuric acid

  • Fertilizers are made with it.
  • It aids in the manufacturing of iron and steel.
  • It is employed in industries that produce chemicals.
  • In refining petroleum, it is employed.
  • Phosphoric acid is created using it.
  • It’s a cleaning product used in industries to get rid of rust on steel and iron.
  • It functions as a catalyst to transform caprolactam, a component of nylon, from cyclohexanone oxime.
  • As an electrolyte, it is utilised in lead-acid batteries.
  • It is utilised to create ammonium sulphate.
  • Storage batteries employ it.

Summary:

27 molarity of 29% w/W H2SO4 solution whose density is 1.22 g/ml.

The molarity of 29% w/W of sulphuric acid, with a density of 1.22 g/ml is 3.61 M. Sulphuric acid is also known as Matting acid or Oil of vitriol. It has a strong acidic nature and is corrosive.
