1 byte is equal to 8 bits. Digital information is stored in units called bytes, with eight bits each. The byte is the tiniest unit of memory which is addressable in different computer systems as it was historically the number of bits needed to encode a single text character in a computer.
Explain Byte Storage
Network protocol specifications like The Internet Protocol (RFC 791)(1981) indicate an 8-bit byte as an octet to distinguish them from the ordinary 8-bit definition. Additionally, one kilobyte is made up of 1024 bytes. We have mentioned some measurements related to Byte storage.

Early encoding systems repeatedly employed the six-bit character code, and in the 1960s, computers frequently used six and nine-bit bytes. These systems frequently used memory words that were 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10 six-bit bytes in length, or 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 48, or 60 bits. Before the name yte became widely used, bit groupings in the instruction stream were sometimes referred to as syllables or slabs in this era.
